Working in Finance here in NZ, General rule is that you are taxed for whatever dollar you earned. The higher your earnings, your tax rate increases as your taxable income increases. That’s how taxation works. It’s actually proportional tax rate. It’s incorrect to say any overtime earnings should not be taxed, if that is your mindset, don’t work overtime.
