Decades ago I visited a petting zoo in Minnesota that had a pond with a tree on a small island. There was a rising suspension bridge from the mainland up to the tree with a small platform at the top of the bridge. Zoo patrons would buy shelled corn that would dump into a bucket and then send the bucket of corn up a pulley line to the platform. As soon as the billy goat heard the corn hit the bucket he would run up the suspension bridge to eat the corn. This was the zoo's most popular attraction.

We have a wood working shop in our upper barn. Our table saw and our chop saw have large trash cans with a flexible black pipe connected to them. Each time we saw it’s blown into the plastic can with the lid on and makes for a cleaner ,more dust free shop.

Love your attitude and work ethic. Really enjoy the animal respect you show all your wards. I get a kick out of the fast forward of the kitchen veggie chopping/slicing. I have two suggestions for warmer weather projects: 1. An attached garage for your truck and Gina's car. 2. A nice pond Keep up the good work and stay warm Best regards, John in WVa where it was colder last night(24F.) than Mad River, VT.

We haven't had much of a winter out here in the SW; it's more like a California winter, with day temps in the 50-60F range and nights in the 30-45F range. Right now we have a lot of cloudy days but also plenty of bright sunny ones.

You can make the Goat Stop easier to move by fastening an old pair of skis or two to the bottom of the skids. I have used this method to make chicken tractors/coops in the past. Skis will slide easily on grass as well as snow, and can always be found for free.

I like the outdoor feeder as is. If you ever put any larger animals out there, you will need the extra headspace. Your next major build should be a high sided long tunnel with some raised beds for food. But my vote is for whatever makes you all happy. Where is Gina's Soap Shop going to be? Are you allowed a farm stand in your area? What plans do you have for the back pasture and that spring head? Could you build a pond back there? What about fruit tees? Does anything grow besides apples? Just some thoughts.

I wish this channel existed like 5 years ago. There was an old man that owned a wood working shop by my work place. He had a ton of good lumber in the building. He would take an 1700 cabinet and copy it exactly for the customer. When he died in his 80's. his family auctioned everything off. All the old saws, lathes, wood, etc went cheap. Mostly for scrap price. If Al could have made the trip, he could of had some nice well taken care of woodworking equipment stuff.

@@0Hillbilly Al and Gina have not planted anything except a few scraps of salad and a small veg crop. There is no way they are living off the land. @0Hillbilly
@0Hillbilly 4 жыл бұрын
@@jimmyjohnstone5878 that may be, but, does that mean they aren't homesteaders? So they aren't self sufficient on vegetables or fruit. Possible Projects for 2020: * Dust collection system in the workshop. * Mobile organizers for fasteners (nails, screws, nuts & bolts, etc.). (Get super organized. ) * Lumber storage out of the weather! No more piles of lumber under snow! * Expand the gardens - start growing food for your animals to cut feed costs. (E.g., grow *lots* of sunflowers, since you feed them to the goats.) * Build bird houses and beehives for the whole property. * Semi-mobile feed storage by each feeder. * Greenhouse * Plant the paddocks with feed for the animals. Turner Newman did it in England; see Fertility Pastures (www.soilandhealth.org/wp-content/uploads/01aglibrary/010109turner/010109pastures.html)
