I’ve had 2 speeding tickets, first one I got caught going 89 in a 45 (pretty sure I was going like 94 but the cop knew I was a new driver and knew if he put 90 or more it would be double the speed limit and I’d be fucked) also got a careless driving ticket and a loud muffler ticket on the stop, went to court got the careless dropped and the speeding dropped down to a 60 in a 45 so it was 15 over, big fine and 4 points on my license, then I got another one about a year and a half later where I was late for work and was going 74 in a 55, lady cop wrote the ticket for 69 in a 55 for me and then in court I got it dropped to 65 in a 55 so I still had 2 points but the fine was less. I had to start paying a 3 year surcharge to the NJSVS (New Jersey Surcharge Violation System) of $29 a month for like 6 months and then again the next year and then again the next year. But yeah 15-29 over in NJ is 4 points and 30 or more over is 5, but if I had been written up all the way for my first ticket it would have been a 5 point speeding ticket for going more than 30 over, a careless driving ticket, and a reckless driving ticket which is almost always given out for speeding at 90mph or more especially if over the speed limit that much, and the careless would have been another 2 points, totaling 12 points, which would have given me a suspended license, and I had only had one for less than a month at that point lol

But my point is that if you’re trying to knock the ticket down for speeding, the higher tier starts AT 15 over not 16 so writing it for 15 over is no different points wise than writing one for 29 over
