Doja Cat is half South African of Zulu ethnicity (South Africa's largest ethnic group), through her father who is a South African and a famous film co- producer of the film "Sarafina" This type of Afrobeat is actually a common type of beat style under a South African genre called House (that is how the term is referred to locally, although on an international spectrum it might be stated otherwise) and, a few house DJs and musicians would be for example : DJ Black Coffee, MI CASA, DJ Fresh, Bucie, Prince Kaybee, etc Also she uses 3 accents throughout this entire video ranging from a slight South African, to a mainly Nigerian pigeon (Nigerian pigeon is very similar to Jamaican patois because a lot of slaves were taken from that part of Africa, so it's easy to get confused with the accent), and then during the last part of her rap verse she uses a slight Caribbean accent , and @2:13 is a dance style from the South African genre known as Amapiano Even the style of clothing in the especially the second half of this music video is very South African (in terms of the clothes worn by the some of the tribes) - From South Africa's neighbouring country, Namibia
@ingaxnathi3 жыл бұрын
SO INFORMATIVE! let's not forget the south african dance move she added in there called "igqobhetsa" which is just a south african version of the matrix dance move (a move popularized by The Matrix film but as a dance move, by singer, songwriter and dancer Ciara)

It fits even more because even though Regina George was a mean bitch, she was succeeding. And when Lindsay's character began to succeed like her she tried to stop her by breaking her down instead of showing her there's a better way to be. But it's all because Regina has always been taught to be the way she is and nothing else.

@carriel99543 жыл бұрын
I’m personally not really informed on African tribes and cultures. I saw people saying that the video was inspired by Nicki Minaj. The only confirmed video inspiration is Michael Jackson. I should have put video inspiration to be more clear. I do see African and Egyptian culture but I didn’t want to post a comment when I’m not totally informed on something. Idk what the different tribes or what belongs to what culture. Ik that might sound bad because I’m black and should know stuff like that…
@dreajp3 жыл бұрын
@@carriel9954 Idk why that's bad love. I'm assuming you're from America. If so, you're fine. Idk why people think we should know all about a culture we are not a part of just because it is a part of our ancestry. That shit is so stupid because to be honest, at that point it becomes cultural appropriation. You don't need to know shit about a culture unless you are of that culture immediately or if you're studying that culture for something you need for education or your career. But you can most definitely learn about it on your own time since it isn't your culture and that would be cultural appreciation. But it's not a necessity just because of ancestry so you're okay love.

There are so many things that set Doja apart from the likes of Nikki, Cardi, and Megan. The most obvious being her 100% natural beauty. But to me the most important is that Doja doesn't steal beats from smaller artists. Cardi, Nikki, and the City Girls have taken old beats from lesser known electronic artists from Detroit and Chicago, and have given absolutely no credit. These artists are considered sacred in our cities, so it really doesn't sit right to see their music being taken and them getting zero credit. Doja will always be number one when it comes to originality.

However w/o discourse, differing opinions, & truth it’s impossible to navigate this world… Plz don’t b angry just wanna provide earnest feedback for reactors I appreciate: Truth is I didn’t enjoy the hmm..”Framing” & narrow view: Elizabeth Bathory, Empress Wu, Byzantine Empress, Mary I…all were awful women in a rulership who’re responsible for heinous deeds; not only against those they governed but family in some cases!! ACCOUNTABILITY is a tough sale but true nonetheless, ALL PPL/GENDERS/RELIGIONS are capable of evil…right now masculinity or toxic masculinity (arbitrary name w/ multifaceted impact) CAUSES anything BAD happening to happen (more reach then Murphys Law)… I’m not tryin to put words into y’all’s mouth only highlight certain “things” framed carelessly can b harmful..it’s impossible to kno everything & im not arguing men v women or men > women just…that I believe both genders are 2 sides of the same coin (yin/yang) which is y cases where Equal rights(not egalitarianism)reign for all tend to b most successful kingdoms, dynasties, or countries..this is not meant to whine @ or anger u!! I only hope it helps u & ur channel continue to grow…Good Luck
