Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! Original Soundtrack

Hey all! The credits theme which I originally titled "Write the Way Into Your Heart" was added to the in-game jukebox in the most recent update with the official title Stories of Friendship and Literature! I had asked the composer Nikki (@variendarkgirl) about this track on July 8th and at that time she had no name for the track. Once it was added to Spotify and the in-game jukebox (after our conversation) she gave it an official name. My title "Write the Way Into Your Heart" was NOT official. I made up a name because it didn't have one at the time. Anyway sorry if there's any confusion around the name! The official title is Stories of Friendship and Literature and I've changed it here and in the standalone video to avoid confusion.

Fun Fact: The first song, titled 'My Song, Your Note' is not only Monika's main song but is also hinting to all four members- The M in 'My' standing for Monika, the 'S' in Song standing for Sayori, And so on so forth for Yuri and Natsuki being Your and Note.

I’ll be honest, I really like the soundtrack “My Song, Your Note.” The sound of the music is very beautiful, so slow and so... hard to describe in words, beautiful. I really like the soundtrack with quiet sounds and slow notes, but the sad music in the soundtrack is not sad, I don't really like sad soundtracks. I prefer the normal soundtrack, where the notes and sound are like sad music, but not sad, but normal, without sadness. And the soundtrack “My song, your note”, “Peachy Pie”, “Lavender Mist”, “Dusk” Piece by Piece”, “Candy Hearts”, “Stories of Friendship and Literature”. They are the best soundtracks for me, they are to my taste.

There's a theory that Monika made MC just to serve as an instrument of interaction for the player, which might explain a few things. While Sayori mentions a friend in the Side Stories, for all we know he could serve the same purpose as Natsuki's Dad and wasn't supposed to be a main character.

@@Ferraga They are far too developed as friends to be "before DDLC". Remember they are quite a dysfunctional gathering to begin with, but it becomes even worse when the Protagonist (us) comes in because it sets in motion emotions in the girls that they didn't have before because of the game settings. Or rather I should say it is more likely intended to be a separate version of their world. This is what "saddens" me about this game. It isn't a game where it's "not a game". They are very much still stuck in a simulation. Their development is still in just a small instance of a world that doesn't exist. However on the flip side this implies even further that the four girls might well be stuck in a simulation and have a connection and a way out. I hope this develops into a game where the girls actually break free of the bonds that hold them in the world they inhabit. It's both nice and saddening. At least with DDLC it could be assumed that the girls were stuck in a simulated world in YOUR computer. Now it's developed to a point where you actually are just watching a story and it's not a simulation in your computer any longer. It's a simulation in some laboratory.

I don't know what it is about this music but it makes me fall in love with these characters all over again. It, in a way, makes me emotional. We get to watch these characters grow while they create friendships that are immortalized. However simple or basic the music may seem, it holds emotional significance and that means a lot.

Considering what themes are used in Side Stories, compared to the main game, this OST could not suit it more. It's very different from the original OST, much more nostalgic and emotional, no 4th wall breaking tricks, just pure wholesome emotions, with a bit of references from time to time. Dear Sunshine is breaking my heart. I now that there is a "happy ending" in the main game, but I wish that DDLC+ added a new ending, where we could change the events of the main game. After learning the origins of the club without MC's interference, the events of the main game are just too cruel. I love and hate this game at the same time. I tip my hat to the writing team. These characters are incredibly written, and all of them have pulled my heart strings.

Everytime I hear Dear Sunshine I honestly get emotional. I remember first seeing DDLC those years back and I was so intrigued. I think the reason the skirts seem longer and don’t fly as much is because this part of the game doesn’t really aim for a relationship but more of friendship. Would you make the skirts defy gravity in a game of making friends and building trust? Probably not unless there is a sexual twist which there isn’t in the side stories. Dusk is my favorite of these songs. Something about its sound along with its meaning makes it hit harder. To me it's a song that could either be sad, thought provoking, relaxing, or self-reflective. I love how it could be used for a wide variety of scenarios.
