Some people always have this stereotype of 'you're set for life if you join the company, and you don't have to work hard for it'. I mean, you'll definitely got a sizeable audience on your first stream, but maintaining that number is a different matter. And a company accepts you over multiple applications because they believe you can grow that number, instead of getting it stagnate, or even shrink. I remember how these Twittards always have this kind of argument whenever people like IronMouse or Gura winning awards because they are in a company/agency and have big fanbase. I feel like the LAN party concept could be done tho if it's only the audience that's in the physical location while the VTubers themselves are in a different area with their games and avatars being either shown on large TVs are projectors into large walls or something. It'd be difficult to incorporate to say, a normal concert event, but not too far fetched for a convention or expo type event like Hololive EXPO, at least afaik.

Is that shaky-cam effect rough on anyone else? It might be fine in very short bursts, like if you wanted to emphasize a momentary character break or something, but I feel like going for that long could trigger vertigo. The editing is kind of directionless in this one. I get that it's because the content itself is basically directionless, literally reading from a Powerpoint, rather than building to a punchline; but if you're not building up to something, why slow zoom? If you need to do *something* to hold interest during these dry discussions, there's a technique I've seen some video essayists use where they punctuate sentence or paragraph breaks by cutting in a VERY SLIGHT zoom in or out right at the break, even when you're not going for emphasis. I've seen LegalEagle use it for long-winded law exposition; it can be almost imperceptible if you aren't looking for it, but the movement in tune with the speech has some kind of rhyme-like effect that recenters my attention span. Something to think about.

One cons that she didn't mention: Commissioning things are going to be much more expensive when you are in a (big) company. This is both for direct and indirect reasons: 1. Direct: Simple, people charge you more. A lot of people charge extra commercial fee or even straight up use a different rate when you are commissioning art/music/MV etc and you told them you are from big company, even if it is a personal project that you paid by yourself. Ability do do stuff by yourself or having pre-established production team of yours before debuting may alleviate this. 2. Indirect: Even in a friendly non-competitive environment, fans still have limited time and attention span. Even further, big established agency usually already have a really high quality standard that you indirectly need to at least match so you can keep up with the rest of company. For each talent who made anime grade MV or collaborating with music label composer/producer, you'll get one extra pressure to match that quality. Just one won't force you to keep up, but once the average moves significantly you will need to match your quality or be creative.
@Meonium9 ай бұрын
Proper company definitely have database for commission rates to consult. So artists can't simply rip their clients
@chrisgaming88469 ай бұрын
.doesnt that apply to big indies as well.the bigger you become the more they would charge you specially if you want quality.not a creator nor an artist but i do think thats how business works.since if your not gonna pay them for quality they would just go to companies.also quality is not really the main point for companies.they just have a market where they supply to meet demands.its the same for indies .quality works thats why they take it but im pretty sure if you can be good for targeting a market of people that they dont have they would get you specially if they want to target that market.
@Darkrezta9 ай бұрын
how the hell people charge you more when you are with big company but not when you are indie? I mean look at bao bao case, she is not even charged more, she is basically scammed from her merch. from what I observed, being indie you risked more being more ripped of instead when you are with a good company.
@zeroyuki929 ай бұрын

The big benefit to a company is they take most of the non-streaming burden away. The company can hire technical people to set up your Minecraft server of deal with your software issues. They already have relationships with companies that do marketing and merch. They set up events and there's a group of people with whom you can easily collab. However, unless you're a complete luddite, I feel like if you're going to make it as a company streamer, you'll make it as an indy. Your audience will probably be smaller, but you end up with 70 cents of every superchat dollar instead of half that. And while you might not have the time to all the merch and cross-promotion and events you would do as a company streamer, you don't have to cut anyone else in when you do that kind of stuff.

Your channel (I've seen the companies straight up SCRUB the vtuber from the internet. Henya's old channel's videos are completely gone and it's fucked up.) And you lose your model you cannot use it as you don't own it, and you lose your audience. Vtubers should always choose to be indie and just like any other twitch streamer. Vshojo doesn't allow anything as they have no say over it.

@@SephiniYes, but they choose to have no say over it. They could have required talents to give them the rights to their models like phase connect does, but they didn't.

While I would have wanted Doki to Join VSPO EN, I don't know if the management is competent or not. Sure the JP side management is super competent (after all vspo is thriving for 6 years without any graduation/termination and major drama) but I don't know if the management for VSPO EN will be the same 😅 I sure hope so
don't just auto generate subs and upload, this is a total mess, re-read the finished sub

In honesty, she could join Vshojo, lol. They treat each other like family as the only reason Silver and Nyanners left, was their own free will.

I don't think she would feel comfortable being in Vshojo, there's something off about Matara & Kuro when it comes to Doki. Did you ever find it strange that Matara & Kuro never publicly reached out to help Doki and tried to keep their distance from her?
@FeignJurai8 ай бұрын
I feel like Nina was at least indirectly part of some of the "highschool behavior" in Niji and as a result Matara feels at least guilty about it. Possibly the same with Mysta/Kuro. She very vaguely alluded to it when asked if she would do a collab with Sayu or Doki. Maybe it's all my imagination, but Matara seemed like she has regrets.

Can someone explain to me why they are always so worried about breaking NDAs when they are not living in Japan? Even if the do break the NDA, they will only be liable for legal proceedings in Japan...in which the worse case scenario is that they get deported from Japan (and maybe a mutual legal treaty court order to instate an NDA within their country of residence)
@reijek9909 ай бұрын
Because you don't want to have a reputation as someone who breaks NDA's as future business partners will factor that in their calculation when deciding to work with you.

I love Phase Connect but Doki is just too big for them. She's bigger than Pippa by a decent margin and Pippa is their biggest draw by a decent margin. They don't really have anything to offer her. Realistically nobody does, not even Hololive really. Doki is better off being indie.
