I do not like Dokkan, however as time goes on I have been educated on and grown to develop an appretiation for it's visuals which cannot be denied! In this 50 minute special I saw some of the BEST the game has to offer!

With the ss3 goku and ss2 vegeta, they have a standby skill, where it goes into base vegeta for 5 turns. Depending on how many ki orbs you get will determine which finish you get. Under 45 orbs is the ko with vegeta and Hercule. With 45 or more, you get the super saipan goku. The more orbs you get, the more damage the spirit bomb does. It is one of the top 3 hardest hitting attacks I the game

Another thing about the Blue Gogeta and Vegeto is that the game servers actually crashed when they came out, and when the servers came back online, they had to limit the amount people that were allowed to play at one time so it wouldn't happen again.

Well im glad u got the two fusions! I been a waitin! Also, i remember someone saying in ur chat why isnt it at 2x speed. If you get in the game, most animations look better at 2x speed for some reason. You asked if some of these characters have been updated, the answer is that a lot of them have an extreme z awakening, which allows them to catch up to todays meta (most of the time). When you asked how characters transform, some of them do it on their own (mostly older characters) after a certain anount of turns pass or once they have done enough super attacks or dodged enough or have recieved enough attacks. Same for the active skill, but u can choose to activate it instead of doing it by itself.

The reason the animations look better at double speed is because they're made with double speed in mind. As most most people play the game like that.

The thing with dokkan and people asking for x2 speed on chat, is because since the game got x2, most of the animations where made to fit into that speed and look cool without missing the attack, so that's why regular speed looks lag on the more cinematic animations (it feels more like 0.5 and 1.5 speed than 1 and 2), they were made for x2 speed which is basically the default speed for most players.

So if you didn't know yet: when the SSJ2 Vegeta and SSJ3 Goku go to "standby" (Its basically the same as active skill, just that it swaps into Vegeta defending Goku, so he can't attack) you have to collect orbs, and if you collect enough orbs, you get the version where goku transforms into a super saiyan, and if not, it's just the base form version. A cool detail about that is that the OSTs change depending on what finishing skill you got

31:17 basically for now only the blue fusions with their EZA,but that exact gohan you just saw is the exact reason an entire mechanic in the game became such a huge thing for the devs 😂😂,he was so good at release that even now without an EZA (upgrade units get after years) he is still usable,the mechanic is called "guard" and it basically means that you will have defensive advantage over the enemy no matter the type you are,this gohan has that for free with the hability to infinity stack his defense,that unit alone made every guard unit have restrictions or things like "50% chance to guard"

@@zero38xt Yeah,that Gohan was so good that people say when he gets an EZA they will give him basically nothing 😂,and even with the minimun he will probably be strong Just so you have an Idea of how strong he was,lets say at the time 300K defense was basically the "Good for everything", this Gohan had around 200K right away,and he atacks 50% defense FOREVER,every atack he gets 50% defense again and again and again,and because of the guard he didnt had disavantage agains anyone,this guy alone made them basically restrict or make RNG based guard units because they dont want a case like him again 😂,even now 3 whole years later this guy performs better than some recent units

@@zero38xtthere was recently a new style of boss fights where the difficulty spiked and invalidated all the units before the 7th anniversary but most of the units in this video got ezas making them usable again with the blue fusions, the transforming zamasu and the transforming trunks being some of the best units at the moment including characters releasing now

@@zero38xt45:12 the swipe down is whats called a standby where you get orbs to charge something and or have another character take over and defend (for this unit vegeta cannot attack and all the orbs you gather go into the spirit bomb and if you don’t get enough you get the first animation and if you go over the needed amount you get the super saiyan version)

So, the 8th anniversary units were the first to introduce standby skills. With the Ssj3 Goku/Ssj2 Vegeta, you need to grab ki spheres to charge the spirit bomb, finish attack 1 occurs if you get 20-29 spheres, finish attack 2(Thank you DragonBalls!!) occurs at 30+ spheres obtained. The other 8th anniversary(the GT bros), their standby is a transformation that gives a revival(nu-uh)

Also about Goku/Vegeta 8th: The swipe down is a standby skill, you have to charge the spirit bomb while popping bubbles, the more you pop the better the spirit bomb is and you have to launch it before 5 turns. If you have enough, Goku will go SSJ but if you don't have enough he won't. Also you missed a K.O screen for them for their 12 ki animation (Yeah they have a K.O screen for EVERY ATTACKS they can do and I don't know why) Also people or you should watch Dokkan world for reacting to units, Dokkan World usually show everything the character can do in a single video

The swipe down is for "Standby skills", not many units have these but often times they swap out the units temporarily, for the 8th anniversary units you swap out from the duo into just Vegeta (vegeta and the hybrids for GT) During that standby phase you need to fulfil certain requirements in that time to trigger a "final attack", for the Buu duo Vegeta requires you to generate 30+ orbs to charge Goku's spirit bomb, the two different animations are dependent on how many orbs you collected, and for the GT duo the only requirement is to die, which is easily done as GT Vegeta does not have any defensive buffs whereas Buu Vegeta stacks damage reduction for every orb he collects.

they actually don’t outshine 3rd, 4th or 7th anni by much, only a difference of a few million dollars or so (at least, in terms of JP sales I think, though I’d assume global numbers are probably similar). 5th anni was still the best selling anni though, and all 4 of those annis (all making over 80 mil) outshine nearly everything else, as the runner up after those are is WWC transforming Goku and Freeza who are about 11 mil lower in sales (around 69 mil) compared to the 4th anni banners (4th highest grossing at about 80 mil)

In terms of which game takes more time to make a character (this doesn't really answer the question but...) we were told by the producers that they start working on a celebration about 6 months before they go live in game, which might give you an idea of how much planning they do beforehand when it comes to Dokkan celebrations. Also to explain the 8 year buu saga LR, they have two finish skills for their standby, one for if you activate the finish skill with their ki meter at full charge and one for when it isn't fully charged.

what you saw, swiping down is a standby skill, when swipe down goku will start charging the spirit bomb, but it takes time ence there are a few turn of standby where vegeta won't attack, but is a defensive wall, if you charge it over a certain threshold he will transform into ssj, if you can't reach the threshold he can still do the spirit bomb but without transforming

So with ssj3 goku and vegeta switch to spirit bomb they pull a “stand by skill” like lf Gamma 1 and 2 in legends where gamma 2 flys up and after some times comes back down. Goku flys up into the sky and charges the spirit bomb. After certain amount of turns you dont charge the spirit bomb all the way you get ko 1 if you overcharge or fully charge the spirit bomb you get ko 2. Also the sprite changes in game where it used to be both of them to just vegeta. The gt kid goku and ssj2 vegeta in order to trigger the “universal spirit bomb” you get ko’d At the end of their “active skills” you revert back to their normal states. These units were game changing as one essentially was unkillable and stacks defense so much vs. the other rejuvenates your hp to full after you die wile doing like 60 million dmg. Year 5 (gogeta blue and vegeta blue) were game changing as they stacked attack and defense as well as were the best looking by far. Gogeta had his attack effective against all and vegito could attack repeatedly. Ssj vegito in the buu arc had a unique ability called “scouter” where the moment he fuses he can tell the player when an enemy super attack is in rotation. As well as heal. And do counterattacks “his infamous upside down kick from kakarot” which can result in crits doing like almost 9 million from just counters “unique to only vegitos” in game

The goku has to charge up the spirit bomb my the amount of ki spheres you get, if >30 it plays the non super sayian one with its own ost that is similar to the 2nd and more powerful attack. The same thing is for the ssj 4 full power goku, if you get enough ki, you go full power, if not you stay normal ssj 4. There is also a turn time limit restriction, so if you don't use the standby skill, you don't do anything, so you can't just get ki forever and ever since it also affects how strong the spirit bomb is.

3:19 About characters being updated. Usually, when they release some units that have been released in the past, but had very basic animations, they give those new versions new animations. However, there has been two characters in the game that had their animations straight up replaced by an updated one. The first one is LR INT Gohan SSJ2. His Ultra Super Attack (which is a Father-Son Kamehameha) has had its second half completely redone. Originally, it used his card art, which was just being zoomed in to emulate him walking towards the screen. Nowadays, he actually has a walk animation, and the art for the walk has been redrawn. The other character that got an animation revamp was LR AGL Majin Vegeta. Originally, his Super Attack (which is the Atomic Blast, or Final Impact) used the game's basic ass sprites, just like you used to remember the game. Now, it has been completely redone and looks closer to how it looks in the anime (just with some alternate angles). That 5th anniversary LR TEQ Vegito also got a very small update for one thing. At 19:32 you can see his close-up, and he has an extra bang on his forehead that should not be there. This has been fixed, and now he has his signature two bangs, instead of three.

45:35 So you already know about active skills, transformations, and revives; Dokkan recently added another skill called Standby, where some characters temporarily transform and you need to complete some sort of condition to do the second part of the skill (which changes per character, the Buu saga duo needs you to get enough ki (pop enough bubbles) to fill up a bar and if it isn't filled you get the first animation) And then we got Domains with the newest characters, Fused Zamasu and later Future Gohan, which basically give a buff to the whole team

The vegito and gogeta was top grossing like 3 times in a row actually which was insane at its time and even till today..one of the most hype and greatest anniversaries in dokkan for sure..and i definitely spent about 2000 stones i believe to get them both which i believe is like 90 bucks per 150 to 180 i believe and it was after the sales were gone since bought those too😅

Tbh if I were you, I wouldn't go back any further. If I remember correctly, that Metal Cooler in the video was the first unit to get "woah, this is actually pretty decent" animations and the regular Cooler was the first to get "WOAH, THIS IS LITERALLY THE MOVIE" animations. Everything before them is pretty much the dokkan you remember

Yeah, with most of these units that transform, the best part about them is the transformation animations. They are usually one to one with the show, and sometimes look competitive different to their super animations

I cannot answer your dokkan vs legends question from a grand scheme of things perspective but as an Animator myself to animate on its own, its easier for legends to do once the model is done and is rigged its basically moved around on a fixed camera (besides when working on their supers or LFS then dynamic camera movement), ofc since dokkan makes their individual set sprites (including beams, backgrounds, sfx etc) and then animates and changed moved or edited frame by frame it would take a bit longer along with more movement around a camera. I can only speak about the animaton production part, im not entirely sure how much goes on between those 2 games. Also i think you should check out LR TEQ broly (idk if you saw that one) and the INT ssj4 Goku LR that came out a couple months ago!)

You know what’s funny that Tec mystic gohan forever changed the game cause he guards all attacks and then his super attack effect he stacks defense making him an unkillable tank. Dokkan has never released another character that just guards unconditionally and stacks defense like that gohan. And yea he’s still good to this day he can take some damage in the newest hardest fights in the game but give him a few turns and he’s a beast. He’s the only character that’s not EZAed(a reawakening for older units like legends zenkai awakening)from 2020 that is still runnable
