Sultan Ibrahim of Johor was the first Malay ruler initiated into Freemasonry in British Malaya in the early 1900s. 2. As Grand Master of Johor Royal Lodge, Sultan Ibrahim published the Lodge's By-Laws in 1922 which integrated Masonic principles with verses from the Quran to demonstrate compatibility between the two. 3.
