Reading English Subtitles in a hindi song can only give you a certain context of what the song means but it will definitely not give you the proper meaning of it. Hindi songs are like poems and it loses a lot of essence in translation. Also, this movie is based on a book and how the author wrote his characters is not something we can really do anything about. Lara, your girls can watch this, there's a lot of shit they cant, but this, they can.

For a moment there I was actually going to say I liked their reactions. Well, I am confused now. Anyway, firstly thank you for doing this song. Some facts : 1) One of the leading ladies in this song "Madhuri Dixit" was pregnant at the time of shooting of this song. Otherwise I bet the steps would have been even more difficult. Because when one of the people in reaction says, 'repeating same thing over and over again". I dont see any repetition. The words in song conveyed the girls feelings; and each time different feeling. Pls, first line of song, in a classical Indian song, is often repeated after every "verse"/para. Repetition of dance: no repetition, except the signature step of song. (I am sure you must be aware what is a signature step); 2) The background of song is actually a "big prayer/pooja" of Goddess Durga (a female deity). You see oppression or any kind of submissiveness of females here? Song was a celebration not a show off of femininity, or something. Though, I have nothing else but Thank You to say to Headspread for doing this song.
