I would love to see a video on the jacket construction. It helps me so much when I can refer to the video while I am sewing. I love the retro patterns so much and can’t wait to make this one. Thanks again for another great video and pattern! Linna

What a nice surprise to have a video today. I like this pattern but for Gene or Grace. I think I like the two tone dress the best. Looking forward to more patterns. Stay well and safe. From Tennessee

I like the two tone better also. The style is perfect for Gene.

This brings back such wonderful memories of learning to sew by making my Barbie dolls clothes! Of course, fabric was so cheap back then. For a dollar a yard, I made a little blouse for me as well as matching outfits for my Barbie dolls! My question is where do you find fabric with tiny prints on it like the one you made? Do you have special sources for tiny prints?
@DesignsbyJude7 ай бұрын
I sell fabric on my website, pick up special pieces when thrifting and have found some good buys on Etsy when looking for something specific. There are so few fabric stores nearby anymore.

Boy don’t I know about small variations! I’m jealous of your larger dolls to sew for. Mine are all either silverstone breast size or the made to move bodies. Armholes , sleeve hems and collars are a nightmare. Many a tiny piece of clothing has gone through the needle hole when the tension is off LOL! But I’ve learned more about sewing doll clothes than when making regular clothes. I love those storage cases from the dollar store! I use one to store my Barbie purse materials (chains, bullnose clips) and finished ones. I used another to store all the shoes. You didn’t show the back of the dress. I wanted to see how the back seam looks and if you can see her bum? That’s my current issue. Without a large opening, you can’t easily remove the dress. 🤔 The waist to hip ratio is a challenge too! Thanks for the demo.

I am intrigued by the fact that you do very little back stitching to secure ends. Is it because, as you assemble the garment, you cross over stitches in the seams and that secures them? I gave up backstitchung eons ago (because the tiny doll pieces got chewed up in the feed dog), but I've always cut the machine threads long, threaded them into a quilter's #10 size hand sewing needle and backstitched to secure the ends, knotted them, and had the ends "disappear" into the seam before cutting the thread.
@DesignsbyJude2 жыл бұрын
I was having the same trouble with backstitching pulling the material into the feed dogs and creating bumps. I do use the tie-off method and have also found that using a smaller stitch length will prevent the seams from opening without the need to backstitch every seam.

If you measure your doll, you can find similar patterns that might work for her. Etsy has a lot of patterns for the various size Barbies and they may have something for your Lammily doll.
