Large wrist balls should have good range of motion! These look great!

I made the wrist and socket about the same size--I think the wrist ended up a shade bigger, actually, because I miscalculated finger length and my first print turned out the wrong size. But it still fits very snugly into the joint. I didn't leave any space--I've found my FDM printer is extremely precise with measurements, it doesn't warp unless something with my bed heating/cooling is off. I made the wrist wall on these 1mm thick--it could have been thinner without any risk, but I was more concerned with making sure I had a sturdy wall with a flat end so I'd have excellent bed adhesion for printing. 99% of my prints that fail happen in the first 10 minutes because it came off the print bed, so giving myself a decent lip that could have a wide brim attached was important for me here. Since I printed with 1mm outer walls all the way around, that part of the wrist is solid, so I could always shave it down thinner if it bothers me later!

Huh. There are loads of fantasy characters with different feet and head accessories like horns, antlers and the like but that's a good point about characters with different hands. From my experience if a race has different hands than humans it's usually in sci-fi rather than fantasy. Great video by the way. Side note: I tend to think about things from a world builder perspective so my first thought wasn't that the hand was odd but more on what it would feel like to use a 4 fingered hand.

That's a good point about the sci-fi versus fantasy! I do remember an argument being made for the fantasy nature of the Dragonriders of Pern books being overridden by that they were clearly sci-fi because all the fauna of Pern had six limbs as opposed to four. I wonder who decides on these rules?

@@LomisPlayground By the sounds of it some people think alternate biology branches is sci-fi... I guess it would be a type of science but by the tittle I imagine it has a very fantasy feel to it. Personally I enjoy seeing fantasy and sci-fi being mixed, but there aren't a lot of examples outside of Star Wars or War-hammer 40K.

Did you sand down all the parts by hand?

I did sand them, but I kinda cheated by using sandable filler primer meant for automotive painting :) Much less work!
