You can also use 4 full length noodles and push a piece of 3/4 PVC through them and feed them in through the hatch in the back . one on each side will hold a 200 pound man up and the boat stays upright . I like the big ones but the regular ones work and leave more inside room for camping gear . Drybags also add flotation , even when filled with sleeping bags or dry cloches .

This is genius!! I have a sit on top but have wanted some floatation for my dry bag, where I carry keys and a gps beacon it would sink for sure. Gonna try the pool noodles!! Thank you SO MUCH for the idea!

I'm more of a canoe person. I wonder if just some empty buckets with lids caulked shut and lashed in place would offer more float than noodle's.

To save space in the rear you just need a foam bulk head caulked into place. It will turn the whole rear into an air pocket.

She is a very confident swimmer and would not have any problems getting to shore or floating until help arrived!

Alex Braun Like the shirt matching the kayak...way to go. At the moment I'm caught between a rock and a hard place; I have a lime green kayak and need to get myself a cag but they only have red or green colour. Wasn't sure what to go for but it's now decided it's green all the way🙂

I personally saw a kid sink his Pelican below the surface... fortunately he was in four feet of water! I've already used pool noodles... even in a sea kayak with floaty bulkheads, a few in the holds will add flotation. My wonderfully cheesy but excellent Lifetime Tahoma sit-on 10' is now stuffed with pool noodles: that inner hull could leak through a hatch or plug. Have fun, stay safe!

I have some pelican kayaks too! They at least have a few blocks of styrofoam under and around the seat. They wouldn’t keep it above water but at least it wouldn’t go to the bottom. Pool noodles have to be a top 10 best invention ever because of all their uses!!
