A bit of an unfair verdict about the fruit. It's probably only meant to make smoothies.
@TheWolfePit
@TheWolfePit 7 жыл бұрын
No it's fair....there's a non-smoothie recipe on the bag. So it's not only meant for smoothies. Even if it was how would it change the flavor? Thanks for watching!

TheWolfePit you said your main complaint was the texture and alluded thats why you didn't like the fruit it is obviously only really for smoothies

This was a very valiant attempt to make something presentable and tasty from a combination of frozen items that anyone with any clue on cooking wouldn't even try to freeze. You made most of it look acceptable, but yes indeed, get your asparagus fresh like spring and your fish local

Jonathan Doe I avoid them with a passion. Back in the 70's/80's they used to run drugs/money out of Arkansas to Kansas in loads of live chickens and processed ones. They would get the drugs to a processor in iola Kansas on hiway 54 that was considered America's main Street. From there the drugs would be sent all over. The money would come back much the same way. They were part of the mena bunch.

Jonathan Doe came over to read this last post and was greeted with a Tyson ad.... hahaha. When old man Thompson owned the plant he treated his workers well. Tyson cheated/swindled him out if the company and it went down hill from there. Foreign workers treated bad. Locals treated bad, basically work in shitty conditions for squat or we will just bring in more foreigners. Safety procedures not followed. It was a mess. Tyson also cheated chicken producers out of money, took over some farms. Nope stay away if you can. It's about impossible.

The reason the flounder says "Until Ready" is because you could literally eat it safely at any temperature, so they don't have to worry about specifying a temperature that would get them sued otherwise.

My wife and I eat the flounder but I cook it differently. It is great and give us an opportunity to have something that we normally could not afford. The dollar tree is not always a great bargain! But if you just stop and think about what you want to make, and you use your imagination to create that then you will surprise yourself. The main point is to use your own imagination and what you have to work with. Don't judge what you have instead take what you have and make it what you want! By the way Larry me and my family ❤️ you. I hope to have you and your family as guest at my dinner table, but that may be I. The back yard because I love to cook outside. But my secret passion is just sharing food with everyone.

I totally get your views of the frozen fruit. That must've been bad. BUT! I gotta say, I've gotten that exact dollar store item many times, but I've only ever used it for SMOOTHIES and never eaten it thawed. I think if it's used intended purpose, blending, or maybe at least adding to a shwifty drink, it would be able to serve that purpose perfectly:

"the salty fishy flavor is simply not how fish should taste" its fish and you added salt to it, I fail to understand how it could taste like anything other than salty fish. also, if you want to describe the flavor of something, you shouldn't compare it to itself. that's like me saying "you know what Mexican Chinese food tastes like? it tastes like Mexican Chinese food!" I apologize if this comes off as harsh criticism but those two things confused the hell out of me.
@TheWolfePit
@TheWolfePit 7 жыл бұрын
If you've ever had good fresh fish, it does NOT taste fishy or salty. It being salty had nothing to do with the salt I put on it, it's like a sweat salty flavor I'm referring to not an 'added salt to my fish' salty. If you've never had decent seafood then my description will be confusing. Good fresh seafood should be sweet and briny (taste like the ocean), not fishy and salty.

that's for clearing that up. its not that i've never had decent seafood more so as I'm not a food connoisseur so those kind of subtleties easily go over my head and based on the comment section, I'm not the only one who feels this way. all I'm saying is that going into detail on flavor, like you did just now, is very helpful and gives us more insight on not just what you think of the food but whether we might like something or not.

What people mean by "fishy" is probably not what you're thinking of. "Fishy" refers to the scent/flavor that old/processed fish tends to pick up i.e. canned tuna fish.

I know you were following the directions, but it really doesn't take much to thaw frozen fish like that. Just toss the bag in a bowl of warm water in the sink and in about 30 minutes it's ready to go. I do that all the time with frozen salmon (which is delicious) filet's from Sam's. I've also cooked them frozen a few times and the difference is remarkable. They're vastly better thawed. If you want to spare an extra buck to try it again, I'd be interested in your thoughts.

P.S. the reason discount stores get items you'd see at a big chain, cheaper, is because of small defects like the pepperoni on a pizza wasnt even enough or the ingredients say dry why.

Local Vietnamese here and for 25 years of my life I've never seen anyone eating or even been served that frozen mushy fruit stuff. Probably the only time people use those is to make fruit smoothies with condensed milk and it's not even that common since most well known establishments literally having a crew to peel fresh fruits as orders coming in.

I once bought a package of "Smoked Mullet" from a grocery store. It was from Vietnam, had tiny bones where no true self-respecting Mullet has bones! I have serious problems with small bones in fish. In my youth Dad and I fished semicommercially off the Gulf Coast, and I know Mullet! That stuff bore no resemblence to Mullet. Into the trash it went, after the first bony bite!

1. I tried the frozen fruits before. I didn't like them either. Well, you get what you pay for. Buy better frozen fruit at Kroger, and you can get better-quality frozen fruit. 2. Fish . . . never tried it, don't even bother. 3. I have read that fresh and frozen are better than canned. 4. Mashed potatoes - I think they are just cooked potatoes, mashed. The potatoes can be cooked through boiling or baking, but I think boiling is better because it will cause the potato to become soft and mushy. Baking would be good if you want an outer crisp. 5. *Creamed Spinach* (your favorite)

enjoyed this. I read the comments and I have to tell you that they are NOT understanding your fish comment. Fish is not suppose to smell or have a fishy taste. Its a real shame that we have to resort to cheap food just because the cost of living is sooo high. Its real bad if you dont have a car and have to spend more than you should on food; and plays havoc on your stomach, intestines, liver, kidneys, and pancreas. Thanks for your time.

My method on the $ store flounder is a bit different. I lay 2 portions on tinfoil, a plop of butter, salt, pepper, minced garlic and lemon like you said (if I have it). Wrap it all up in in the foil and I find it steams nicely in the oven. Very flavorful sitting in the combo of butter and spices. Me and the kids enjoy your vids!

We had a guinea pig when our kids were little. They brought it home from school. We did not thank the teacher. That guinea pig lived a life of luxury for 7 years. Funny, we never thought of eating it! She was fat and plump for sure! I'd eat this $5 meal though. Thanks! Maybe there's hope for Dollar Tree Specials!
