So cute. I made one just like yours, but sacrificed another placemat to add slip pockets inside and outside. I still have half of it left, so I could make two purses with three placemats. I'm planning to give these as gifts when I go to visit family in a couple of weeks. Thanks!

It could be Cut it in half do a French seam for the bottom That way it’s finished Also the box corners could be sewn across like a triangle and not cut just tacked up

What a cute purse. I have made lots of zipper pouches using placemats but had not thought about adding strap connectors and so it could be a purse. I am definitely going to do this soon. I love pockets so I am thinking I might use a second placemat to create some simple pockets to add. Thanks for a great idea and I really enjoyed watching your video!

This looks like a great bag making starter project! It would be very helpful if you shared what size needle you used, jeans? Topstitch? Universal? Thread type? Polyester? Cotton? Weight? Thank you!

Of course!! I use a microtex 90/14 needle and a tex 35 weight polyester thread almost always when sewing ❤️❤️

You can avoid boxed corners by doing a bottom fold. Just fold the bag, and then fold the bottom up half through width of the base you want. Just see down the side and when you turn it inside out you have a boxed corner. No binding needed.

I bought 2 of these last month, I just knew I would find a great way to use them. I don’t own any bag hardware, or that great binding (which I am trying to learn) can you share more details where you source the items? I looked at your link but couldn’t find the bias binding listed. The bag tag site has me confused, I need to look again when I have more time to decipher it all. Thanks!
