I still love that CAS players hate AA that can actually fight them effectively such as SAMs or VT vehicles, because “we randomly die” when randomly exploding tanks is the entire “CAS VS Tanks” gameplay loop. it’s fine until it happens to them and they cant get their near guaranteed free kills anymore.

@J Wilt most of those things would be real easy to implement and tie to gameplay, like putting supply warehouses and artillery positions outside of tank map boundaries, and link them to using artillery by scout tanks and ammo replenishment on points, like if they are destroyed the team can do none of that. shame making good gameplay doesn't pay.

If you compare how good CAS and AA are at killing each other taking account both skill and equipment. CAS takes way less skill with having better and stronger Weapons. So basically a reason why CAS is so annoying is because people play to less AA because it is to hard to be good with it.

Indeed! Harpooning large, essentially motionless and defenseless targets whom the very nature of the game places in nice concentrations (spawns & caps) isn’t too challenging. I know that I have only achieved maybe five AA aces in my 12 days of game time in SPAA (2000+ shoot-downs though) all at BRs below 7.0, so the hard way. To Gaijin “combined arms” really means “double grind/spend”. So that will never go away. Besides, when ground was introduced they needed to make CAS very attractive to get existing players (i.e., pilots) to play the new mode and grind/buy a whole new set of vehicles and crews. They just never saw a reason to change this. Maybe we could encourage Gaijin to make plane-on-plane violence much more profitable than killing tanks as a way to reduce CAS in a way that Gaijin doesn’t see as a lose of value.

But it's far worse than just the skill difference between the two playstyles, chief among the many issues with air in war thunder is the DESYNC, it's especially notable with lower rpm SPAA that certain shots trajectory or tracer should go through the plane, and instead you get some smoke, or a fire effect with not even a hit Planes and even helis will desync away from shots. To put it into perspective, war thunder will often ghost shell on still targets on the ground, this 100% because of desync, if war thunder often can't synchronize shots onto still targets or targets moving at 20-60km/h, it becomes clear why SPAAs struggle in the game, since the servers now have to correctly sync up a shell going at 900m/s vs a plane going at 200-500m/s. The fact that SPAA is hard is not alone because they are hard tools, it's a multi factor issue that heavily favours air instead of ground. The wall of text i've wrote also only touches base on the main one of these issues, that the devs probably can't fix, and others they won't.

The anti-CAS stuff is some of the best on this channel, but the next time you do coastal, might I suggest the MPK Pr.201M from the Soviet tree? I just started playing with it recently and I think it'd be great for a video with solid autocannons as well as derpy mortars

It's hilarious how much overpressure has been dialed down in this latest set of changes. My FB4005 almost lost to a wheeled puma because the shell hit the cannon and only damaged the cannon. The crew, not even the driver, didn't even take damage.

I recommend giving anti-CAS plane gameplay a try aswell. I love to use my researched fighters in ground RB by spawning them without any payload and air target belt, because them CAS players rarely ever can do anything. When I don't find planes, I either patrol a bit or just return to my airfield and leave after repair back to my tank. It's just as satisfying as destroying planes in SPAA for me.

My favourite ‘SPAA’ is the Begleit. Most people use it like a light tank, as they should, but I use it as an SPAA with ATGM capabilities if I need to fire at a tank. 100 HEVT, 36 AP, and 12 SAPHE

I've seen a bunch of players complain about planes.... bout a min or 3 after the match starts here comes the air spam... it is what it is, lol. I swear the range finder is off a lot. But besides arcade /realistic.... they could make tanks/tanks... no air, that's not arcade settings, but without plane spam.
