Drones were a mistake, either useless or OP depending on the situation

I don't use it often, but it can be a large advantage, especially with already having scouting. The biggest threat is when a squad of players have a guy with a drone up probably with discord coordinating together. Chasing heli's with the scout drone never gets old, but I haven't managed to hit one in awhile.

The Rooikat MK.1D have drone also and starts with 76mm APFSDS, the laser rangefinder is very usefull as well

Oh yeah, the drone is definitely underrated. I watched X-LONER videos a lot and he always use drone a lot. He is definitely the best artillery mains in warthunder history. Using drone to locate the enemies and pinpoint exact range and then boom, they get shadow strike!

There's even more interesting drone trick on his channel, where he locks an ATGM onto his own drone, then dives the drone onto enemy tank, so that the missile relocks onto the tank automatically

Scout drone is very useful. Shoot, move, and communicate is how you survive on the battlefield. What might break the game might be the addition of FPV drones or loitering munition drones. These are operated from FO vehicles like Bradley or BMP. But these could get balanced with the use of flechette rounds and jamming systems.

I honestly think scout drones were one of the few balanced additions to the game like they can see everywhere but you must leave your tank control in order to use them leaving your tank vulnerable, they are very helpful for you and your team, and are another way to be a good support vehicle, I think gaijin should give some kind of rewards for the tanks that have been killed by your drone marks.

You can park behind a building and scan your immediate surroundings *with the drone*. I don't think I've ever once been gotten while flying a drone. I do think that's also how Gaijin sees it but it hasn't been my experience

I've seen teams with 1-2 drone players dominate simply because they give their team so much info. If you use drone like Dollar was, then they're balanced like scouting, but if you have players constantly pinging enemies for their team, you're likely going to win. The only downside to the drone is you don't get points for pinging targets Of course bad teams can still going to lose, but good drone players are going to give their team a big advantage in my experience

I use it to scout targets across the map when it's the flat maps with bunch of trees and bushes in between. I ping their location and use bino to scout. Then you can take shots across the map

i have done scout drone on bradley with a 3 man squad and it really is a huge advantage for your premade squadmates to just get information on where they are. mostly most games is just as long you have info on the other than they have info on you you tend to win.

Dollar, There is a guy that makes videos using the scout drone to spot helos at the spawn pad. He then marks then and then fires and switch back to watch the shots and then adjusts aim if needed. He also used the BMP3 I think and used it as an "arty" to shoot tanks using the same tactic.

You can also ping with your bigger circle in the normal drone mode. Its easier when you are in orbit, but also doable when flying with mouse controls. gives a bit more overview in the "not thermal" drones

I think that scout drones were a very good addition for light tanks since they are no longer the only ones who can help repair allies and so the scout drone adds some „uniqueness“ to light tanks again.

The only counter to the drones is missles as they are incredibly hard to hit with bullets and also not to mention the vehicles that get the drones are also the most agile so they find you get into position to kill you damn near silently even if you should be able to hear them(because they’re light tanks) and they smoke you all the while you’re scouted or being marked on the map for literally the entire enemy team. So if they don’t get you someone else will. They single handely win games on their own. Broken busted ass utility that makes the game unfair. “Ohhh you play drones too to counter then” I don’t and shouldn’t have to sit in a drone all game just to counter someone or multiple people….

Scout drones are so dang useful. I use it every time I can. I normally scout my location and before heading to a location I know there are enemies. I also scout for teammates trying to take cap, spawn campers and teammates unaware of nearby enemies. Only if it gives points.

European province 3,5x3,5 is so good. I wish most maps were like it. Also howitzers should have drones. You can attempt to far kill with them, infact the cv90120 can already. Also if you use a BMD with a grenade launcher you can do indirect fire with a drone.

I think the scout drones are ok. It's nice to see where everyone is. Plus they are not too hard to shoot down, which keeps them from becoming too over powered. Now if they added mini bombs to the scout drones, then I would have an issue with them.
