As a former Japan main, this really is a blast from the past. It took me a good few matches to get these babies to work for me with the handling and the zoom, but Dollar is just built different

I am at this point in the japanese tree. the ST-A1/A2 are a pain in the a*s, so sluggish... I'm sure they could work, the 90mm is a great cannon (the APHE is lovely), but I just can't make them work right, they don't fit my playstyle (more of a light tank player)

They're really uncomfortable to play in close quarters. Too much zoom with bouncy suspension is not a great combination . Mobility gets better once you upgrade it

when upgrading the French Pershing, the first shell i researched was the APCR for it's higher penetration, so i was taking APCR and HE a friend then told me what the different shell types can do, so i researched the APHE now i use APHE and APCR for CQC against armored enemies when i really need them to be unable to shoot at me, such as other Pershings (it saved me a few times)

I recently spaded the M48A1 and that was miserable with stock APCR. So many non-pens and shatters. I'm glad you included the last part, I thought I was suffering severe skill issue.

Since you are playing using bad ammo types, I would like to propose a video idea for you: The Shrapnel Pain Olympics. The rules are simple: Pick any soviet vehicle armed with the 76mm. Preferably one of the lower BR ones, like the T-28, or SU-76, but you can use higher BR vehicles if you desperately want to suffer. Once you spawn you can only use the Sh-354T - the shrapnel shell. It has 35mm of pen and an abysmal post-pen damage. Good luck, you'll need it.

British APCR is designed to hit angles. The vickers mbt mk3 has one that has less pen on flat surfaces BUT, it will cut through sloped armour like butter, so despite only theoretically having less than 300 pen, in practice it can cut through anything with slopes.

A great way to use APCR is to catch moving targets by hitting engine and transmission, APCR gets insane fast speeds and it's a great kind of ammo for mid tier to catch running vehicles, especially if it's your only ammo choice (Like the M48), play passively, aim for engines and modules instead of crew. Dollar, do you remember 2018 APDS? Before it was turned into a nuke, it was basically just a faster, oversized APCR.

As a Japanese main that has these tanks, yeah some ACPR rounds are not good at all, I choose only the STA-1 over the STA-2 simply because it still had a 50 cal, but the mobility stock absolutely sucls, even with mods. At least you get a super powerful heat round at 6.3.
