This was very timely as I've been considering whether to get one.

I got it just to add to my other test stuff but I can see it being quite useful. Before retiring I had my own business buying and refurbishing audio video equipment but these days I just find things that need fixing for something to do. It will come in handy I'm sure and it's not expensive to buy.

The 3 pins in a row are for doing the selftest of the unit. Just put it on the upper-left corner of the connection and after pressing it will start the selftest (and calibration). Halfway you are asked to remove the testing-connectors and continue. LED on the bottom is for recognizing the IR as you find out. And, the lower row with the KAA is added compared to the earlier versions and ads extra functionality ;-) Yes, I bought the same unit about a week ago ....
