Parents are the people we trust most by default. That trust being broken is something incredibly painful and traumatic. Depression on top of that can really just knock you down. It's easy to lose sight of positivity and really just spiral. Good thing there's a great deal of positivity and support to hang on here!

In the last 4 years, I’ve been dealing with this with my mother. She’s the only parent around the house since my dad got arrested for some horrible shit. She wasn’t always this bad, she was such a good mom in my child years, but 4 years ago she lost her parents and ever since she’s just, changed. She’s invalidated my depression multiple times, she doesn’t admit when she’s wrong, she doesn’t take accountability, stopped me from seeing my therapist for three years, prevents me from getting a job, has kept me living with her even tho i clearly wanna move out, talked behind my back about me, and have treated me like shit while she acts like an angry child, she even did this today. I’ve always tried to be the best son for her, in fact she says I’m her favorite, but I feel she just uses that as a way to keep me here or to make sure I take care of her when she can’t. She’s also made it clear she misses who I used to be saying “I used to be cuter, sweeter,” and that she wants to take me to church when I don’t like churches anymore. Because of her, my emotions bottle up easily, and they’re hard to come out. I have a hard time crying, even in times when I wanted to like when my dog passed away. She’s invalidated so much of my feelings and mental health issues to the point where it’s hard for me to cry! I really don’t wanna abandon her, but I will if it means my future wife and kids don’t experience what I did. They don’t deserve it.
