I realize it's a year later, but I'm finding this tutorial very helpful as I get into miniatures. I want to do a little walkway for my 'backyard' doll room. I was looking at where you put your glue and paints and was intrigued by your odd palette. It took a moment for me to realize it's half a paper plate! Ingenious! I have some little inexpensive palettes, but this is a great idea. No cleaning!

I usually cut the paper plates into 4 pieces. I really like the look of the egg cartons for walkways and a patio. I'm always looking for inexpensive hacks. It's a little bumpy and the paint settles nicely into the grooves.

I really enjoy your tutorials..I've always wanted to try the egg carton flooring or bricks..just haven't gotten there yet. I can't find those eggs cartons in my stores..but I have managed to salvage the same material from packaging that I will use. This came out lovely and I love the Brick House with the kitty...it really looked like real slate. Great Job! And the less expensive alternative to mod podge and tacky glue. 🥰

The brush you used to put the glue down- Is it a sponge brush or a brush with bristles??? I want to make sure I buy the correct brush to put down the glue. Thank you.

I used a sponge brush to put the glue down first, then I used a bristle brush to put on glue to seal the paint. Have fun!

Using glue to seal in the paint is good, unless the glue is water soluble like Elmer's

Elmer's glue is fine or you can use Ailene's glue.
