I know this is recommending another creator, but I wanted to say that RequiemArt's doll patterns are always spot on. They create for BJD, MH, Barbie and other dolls as well, and I've always been satisfied with the clothes that come out of it. They also helped me figure out how to make my own patterns.

I would definitely be all over purchasing patterns from you! I have recently gotten into customizing Monster High dolls. I had started with my own sculpted art dolls, but sewing a dress directly onto a doll that will never be removed is a far different beast from sewing something that will be taken off and put back on. Though your videos inspire me to keep at it!

Aw wow they're so beautiful! My mum used to make barbie clothes when she was little and I've always loved creating mini things. I'm all inspired now to do lots of pretty dresses, this was very helpful, so far most of my clothes ended up being ill fitting on the dolls as I didn't make patterns, I just guessed! Something you didn't mention was simply measuring the dolls with measuring tape, it can give a good idea of size for things with just a front and back.

Thanks again! BTW I LOVE the Lil clip of your cats! they're so funny and remind me of my own ^_^

+Dollightful I have one old man left, I had 3 but they age. My oldest was all black like yours and when I saw clip I was all awwwww and pouty faces, he was 15 yrs then he would've been 20 now. The other was a Ragdoll mix so big and fluffy, he passed at 14.5 (which was 5 years ago). Now the last one is a cross between the two that passed if those neutered males ever had a love child lol He'll be 16 yrs next mo. He's black and white and kinda short hair but kinda long hair, similar pattern to your cat. He decided to watch your video too and plant himself right in front of my tablet and effectively block my view. These cats love to get in the mix lol so I appreciate your cats cameo appearances! :-D

Love your channel. Doing it yourself is best. You get to see the work really come together. Modifying existing is a great way to start. There is so much self-teaching here in clothes design. I started by following patterns as a kid, then copying, deconstructing, and manipulating. It was not long before I was designing my own. If you sew enough you learn many of the concepts of basic form, with slight alterations. Happy Sewing!

Another tip I've learned from making things for my EG dolls - measure measure measure!! If you don't want to rip apart or just don't have clothes in the style you want, measure the doll to no end and make a pattern from that. I also don't have a machine (and, honestly, at this scale, I'm afraid I'd break it - EG is much smaller than your average 12" doll - measuring in at 9" tall if you count their ears) and sew by hand. Measuring constantly and keeping note of your measurements will help you out a lot.

Ahhh, these were SO helpful! I was literally just trying to make doll clothes again... (like a blind baby animal with mittens for hands.) I guess I really will need to buck up and learn how to make patterns! As much as buying your patterns would be awesome, if it came down to more video making time and time spent on doll pattern organizing/sale, I'd have to stay I'd rather have more videos hands down! But maybe that's because I know pinterest/etsy are already crawling with templates and I am 100% biased for your videos. I always peek to see if you've uploaded every time I browse YT honestly; You're so charming to listen to and you explain everything so simply- it single-handedly rekindled my doll customizing fever! So with that fangirling outta the way, I'm gonna go back to lurking. Take care and good luck with any project you tackle next!

This was really helpful. I'm planning to make clothing for a cloth doll I own(which is quite a bit different than this, and it's also bigger, but it's the same idea.) and I wasn't sure how I was gonna create the patterns since the only clothes I have for it is a simple dress that came with it(it was an Amish doll so it had very conservative, plain clothing and no face or hair so I'm basically starting with a blank canvas) and I want to turn the doll into a male doll based on an OC of mine. I've made a pattern before once when I made my own pants(which admittedly were a bit too short in the butt) but it's been a long time and I was directed every step of the way by my teacher so now I'm trying to figure out what fabric I should use and how big everything needs to be. I'm also making my own wigs and I'm going to be making it so I can easily change out the eyes too(I'm thinking of using snaps, sewing one end of a snap onto the doll where the eyes should be and then gluing the other end to the buttons I'll use for eyes.)
