Headphones should solve your problems. Even if you have to wear only a single ear bud at a time, you still get your Touhou and your family isn't having mariachi trumpets and jingles playing asian-esque music while they try to do whatever it is they do. Also, if your feelings are hurt by your family being bugged by your music, think about it a bit harder. Why does it hurt you so much? It's not like your family isn't accepting you. Touhou, as wonderful as it is, should not define every aspect of your being unless you're cute, asian, female-or-convincing-enough-a-trap-of-Imizu-proportions and look exactly like your favorite character. XD So, regardless of how your family's words about your music may sting,take a step back and analyze the situation from every viewpoint, not only yours. And that wraps that up... I think... I think I should sleep more...

This theme actually is a little less than 20 years old, and idk you, but I've just been a Touhou fan for a few years, and ZUN's compositions already have a very nostalgic feeling for me; they remind me of the 2000's...

+Mayukire Iru Yes, Kioh Gyoku was 2001, EoSD was 2002 and PCB's first demo was December 2002 and didn't launch until 2003. Muse predates Sakuya and Alice's Windows design, but Alice premiered in 1998, so Alice is technically the first of the lot.

Well, Muse was created in 2001 and Sakuya made her first appearance the next year, so maybe ZUN was the one inspired by Kioh Gyoku's final boss (he also worked on the development of the first two Seihou games so we shouldn't blame him for "copying" either). And Alice was created three years before Muse (that probably isn't the Alice most people know though).

Ok so basically: Muse is the final boss of Kioh Gyoku, the second Seihou game. That game plays like the Phantasmagoria games (VS shooters) but with different mechanics. She's the final boss for everyone, however since KG has no plot that anyone in the Seihou community is aware of, no one knows anything as to why that's the case, as well as Morgan being always the opponent in stage 4. They aren't even related to each other either. Muse supposedly comes from a family of alchemists, and is a clan leader of those who dream of merging magic with modern science. (This is taken from some excerpt on an unknown official site) As for the Sakuya + Alice comparisons, she slightly looks like Sakuya (despite predating her by less than a year!) and uses dolls like Alice does. (Except it's a different kind of doll) No one knows what she is. The same site stated previously says "whether she's a god or a devil", but we don't know for sure. That excerpt was posted in 2006, anyway, before she made another appearance as one of the Extra bosses in the Comiket 74 version of Banshiryuu, the third Seihou game. (The canonicity of said Extra being questionable at best) Overall anyway, the Seihou series pretty much stopped in 2008 after the C74 release of Banshiryuu (April Fools games notwithstanding), which left a lot of blanks in almost everyone's character. Personally I like just headcanoning a lot of stuff with them.

***** They sort of are yin and yang. 1. Touhou takes place in a very archaic, natural, mythology-filled world. Seihou takes place in the future with robots, hyper-powerful but hyper-unstable energy, dark companies controlling the world and evil scientists (well there's only one of those last two, but whatever). 2. Touhou's main gameplay aspect is the complexity of the bullet patterns that are given names, themes, meaning. It is all about communicating entires story parts through spellcards. Seihou is about faster, way faster and less complex bullets that force you to instinctively and very rapidly fly through (while also focusing on tense grazing). 3. Seihou is noticeably darker and gloomier than Touhou. Dark character background (VIVIT's is pretty disturbing when you think about it), _actually_ evil villains (villain, really...), display of darker character traits (such as Marie's sadism), while in Touhou, nearly no one actually means evil, silliness is unavoidable and where beauty and poetry really dwell when you think about it. It is undeniable that, even though ZUN did largely contribute to Seihou, he'd never make such a game series.
