I honestly agree with her rules. If the doll show is all about authentic art, why is it wrong to ban dolls that were not created from someone’s own artistic talent? Those that copy other artists don’t really exemplify any unique artistic creativity. I only buy replica dolls though because I am not paying thousands of dollars for a doll. Just not me. I just joined a doll group about a week ago called "We love all dolls." I only join doll groups now that are conclusive. People think everyone should spend thousands of dollars on dolls or you shouldn't collect them. We can do what we want with our money. They are crazy! I just want to know, how are they going to police this event, to ensure that anyone, who owns a replica doll, doesn't enter the show, you have got to be kidding me. Here in Australia, all our doll shows and some of them are quite large, are all inclusive and very welcoming, to anyone who simply, just, loves, dolls. I remember I had a similar conversation with my sister, talking of the drama of the dolly world and she turned around and said to me… "Why is there so much toxicity, in such a niche hobby? you would think you would come together and support one another, encourage one another, not drag, bully and belittle one another instead and spread lies, like high school girls, when you’re fully grown women” and that is so true, but legitimate reborn artists, aren’t always the answer either, as you do hear of those horror stories of experiences too. So neither one is better then the other… My attitude in life is, nobody gets to be judge, jury and executioner of your financial means and knowledge. And if the doll/baby brings you happiness, that is all that should matter and making dolly friends along the way is always a plus! In a perfect world, that would be enough! 🙂

I find alot of the doll "community" especially on fb sketchy as F. I have been in different groups looking to purchase dolls and people will say that it's free just pay shipping and when you ask how much for shipping they say "pm me" and when you do they drop on you that they want 2, 3 or $400 for the doll plus shipping and then if you turn them down they literally spam your email. I had to remove myself from all of the groups

All I can say is WOW. That is just ridiculous. I also collect all kinds of dolls I have reborns, vintage vinyl dolls composition dolls and I have made some dolls from Wish kits. I was just painting dolls for fun as a new hobby I am not spending 80 bucks on one doll kit to wreck it. And I have messed some up in the learning process while trying to root hair I used too much and that doll looked like a clown. I turned him into an elf. Some of those expensive doll kits are limited edition too. I would have ruined some of them where somebody else might have turned it into a beautiful baby. Also I use acrylic paint instead of Genesis heat set paint because I heard the Genesis heat set paint might cause cancer nobody knows for sure yet. Some of my dolls I have had since the 90's. I bought dolls back then because I knit and crochet and wanted to check the size of the sweaters and hats and things I was making. Sometimes my gauge was off and it wasn't the size I intended but at least I could tell the person what size it was that I was giving the gift to. This doll show is a few hours drive from me but I won't be going. They definitely don't want me there. I call my dog the dolly dog because she always kisses my dolls. Hello Spring, excellent points made in your video. I'm alot like you as I have 5 authentic reborns. Two customs directly from the artists and three more on the secondhand market . My sixth baby is a replica sculpt and I love her just as much. She is a very pretty Saskia. I mention this to say that you're 100% right about it being bull that artists are losing money. I've contributed over $800 to vinyl reborn artists in the past. Their business is not being affected like they would have you believe. There was a blk women years ago who went to the show and this wh!te entity would not sell her a doll and told her it was because she was blk. She said that she didn’t sell her dolls to blk ppl and she only wanted her own kind to buy. I don’t I’ll be going to a doll show. It’s too many stories out here

I am black and have been around a long time and all I will say is I have seen people that have figured out ways to make their "conditions" as a way to keep certain groups of people out without showing their racism, im not going to say that's what's going on here but I ain't gone lie I sure thought about it.

@@msceen.8843 same here! There was a reborn group that was suppose to give tips for beginner reborn artists. The conditions were suspicious. It said to not ask about dark skin, curly & Coily hair during any tutorial because they wanted their reborns to look “perfect”. Like what is that suppose to mean? There was another reborn group and it was smaller artists who wanted to host their own doll show and they were asking for everyone’s race. They said they wanted to make sure they had diversity. When they picked their hosts and who was going to have leading roles, they were all wh!te except for 1 Asian and 1 Hispanic. When they were asked about why there wasn’t a blk person there and they said that they wanted to make sure that people felt “comfortable” coming. And that if there were too many minorities, people may not show up. Who is the people that may not show up? Wh!te people? I immediately took myself out of that group. They had All the blk ppl assigned at just helping set up. I’m now in a reborn group where it’s just blk people. There are no “conditions”

The ONLY manager and owner of that group and the doll show is Bobby Barfoot (Perez) of Truborns. She is the only one who kicked you out of HER group, and is banning anyone who has friends with replica babies. I heard she is recanting her actions now, but I cant find anything about that. She thinks she has the right to tell people what to buy with their own money. Whatever. This is ridiculous. I was buying replica kits to paint because when I came into the reborn community looking for information, not one of them shared where you actually buy authentic kits. Now having many artists friends I found out and am buying authentic kits on layaway, but most people can not paint and root their own baby dolls, most people have real bills to pay, they deserve to have babies to hold too. This is disgusting. She is going to end up alone and very sad.

People are going to buy these knock offs babies when they are available out there, and cheaper to buy. Yes vinyl authentic dolls can be a little bit more cheaper to buy, but if you want one that really looks like a baby you gotta pay a lot more for them. As for silicone babies they can be so expensive, and they are getting more, and more expensive. I don’t understand their reason why they are selling them at those prices? When I started collecting reborn babies in 2019 I went on KZbin and I came across an authentic silicone baby in a silicone baby box opening. I Really wanted to a get a silicone baby, but when I looked up the prices, I almost had a heart attack how expensive they are. It took me three years to be able to get a silicone baby. I pay in AUD and if they come from overseas I pay a ridiculously more higher amount for them. I bought so many vinyl authentic babies before I got a silicone baby, and I found they helped my depression and like many hundreds, and hundreds of other women out there that buy them for the same reason as well. Silicone babies do look more real, and that draws people in to buying them just like me. I have two silicone baby girls, I had to go into debt to be able to afford them. After this I’m not buying any more silicone babies as they are getting more and more expensive. I believe the people that make and sell silicone babies are just setting greedier and greedier. Why isn’t reborn collectors do more complaining of how expensive silicone babies are. There is good and bad in collecting reborn dolls. A lot of people can’t afford authentic dolls. I do understand where the artists are coming from, but they can’t really do anything about it unfortunately, but knock off Babies are going to continue to be available to buy.
