A really good, informative and poignant documentary. Ruby had that rare gift; of touching and moving the listener at a deep level. She made such beautiful records and seemed like such a beautiful spirit. RIP Ruby.

Thanks so much for the comment Completely agree. Ruby was an amazing person and it's clear Duke Special thinks the same. Even recording a mini album of her songs and then a live performance of Ruby songs with the RTE Orchestra.

I was just four months old when Ruby passed away. I feel slightly lucky that Ruby was still alive on the day I was born. If Ruby was still alive today, I would have had a chance to meet her.

Larry Wyse Thanks for the comment Larry. We are lucky we have people like Duke Special to make those that came after Ruby aware of just how great a talent she was.

I found it an honour to be head barman at The Strand Hotel when she use to come in some evenings down in Torquay, and my oh my what a laugh we used to have. Her family were lovely and we recalled her son's appearance on New Faces I think it was. I even got to meet Noele Gordon from Crossroads, thanks to Ruby. God Bless you RIP x

She was a superstar in her day and i only got to know her, from a wiki page about the Frankie Howerd movie "A touch of the sun". Which i saw a few times and always wondered who the Irish character was in the movie. Today shes almost completely forgotten and in obscurity, back then a well known superstar....Time is so funny.

Isn't i ironic that Ruby's name will live on not only in her music, but as a (newish) Cockney Rhyming Slang word~ Ruby (Murray) ~ Curry.

Sad, isn't it? She had such talent, yet her early life was surrounded by those orange people in Belfast. She must have been so conflicted; expressing love and tenderness, surrounded by such hatred. I can only imagine that it was like a young German girl in the mid 1930s seeing a boy who was not Aryan. I suppose she carried conflict throughout her life. I thought that the man at 5:19 was quite nice, though. He had quite nice memories of her.
