Dolomites - Alta Via 1 2023

Graeme and James backpack the Alta Via 1 route through the beautiful Dolomite mountains in Northern Italy. 75 miles in 7 days from Lago Di Braies to the La Pissa bus stop. We camped, mostly wild (leave no trace) and carried limited food eating mostly in the rifugios along the route.

Fuck off. The normal deviation is to the La Pissa bus stop because otherwise you need Via Ferrata equipement for a dangerous but difficult section. And we camped it, we didn't stay in lodges, u prick.

Awesome! Thanks for posting the video! Planning to do the hike and mostly camp too. Did the rifugios have food at odd times of day or was there set times where they served lunch when you stopped by?

I think it varies but generally if you want a full meal it was 12-2pm, and evening meal was done as a large group for guests. Didn't struggle to get food.

I like that you added the peak names & their height. Suggestion - when panning a scene with your camera, pan slower. What brand/model tent? Thank you for showing me the mountainous areas of Italy. Ha ha thanks, I wouldn't worry about subscription, I'm not building a channel but thanks anyway. Perhaps I should put up a gear list but the tent is a Lanshan 1 Pro pole tent in "khaki" (er...brown). 800 grams (about 2lbs).

@@AntiAddick The big 3 for lil ole MEeee is a Hilleberg Enan (dark green), an MSR XTherm air mattress & my Western Mountaineering Antelope (5ºF) sleeping bag with the Gore Wind Stopper outer fabric. I carry a 53L ULA Ohm 2.0 backpack. I still prefer a bladder/drink tube vs so-called "smart" water bottles. Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada U.S.A.

Hello, nice report. How did you get to Camping Cortina from the Lagazuoi Refuge? When I put it on the web I find Camping Cortina 14 km away

Below Lagaziou is the Passo Falzarego and a Dolomiti Bus service runs from there into the town centre. It's about 3 or 4 euros and I think the last bus is at about 18:30 or so. We took the bus to Cortina, walked to the site, stayed over, came back up and got the bus to the same spot in the morning.
