Some people choose not to meet with the person in real life because they are just trying to do the character the director wants portrayed, not the actual person. From what Delores is saying, she had a good relationship with Ed after they broke up, whereas the character Delores was totally sickened by him and his friends and went out in a total huff. The character was also supposed to be portrayed as an aspiring - but terrible- actress.

They set a new Hollywood record for the most 'layers' of special effects (98 layers). The reason for all of the layer....to cover up the blemishes and cellulite of the aging actresses including SJP.
