Dolores Wallace Johnson was born in Monroe to Ivy and Lena Wallace on June 22, 1934. She attended Neville High School where she met her best friend and the love of her life, Johnny T. Johnson.
Dolores and Johnny T. shared sixty years together and had six children. Dolores fiercely loved her family. She has passed onto to them her joy of life, adventurous spirit, strength, kind heart and sense of humor. She volunteered for many organizations including the flower guild at Grace Episcopal Church and the Junior League of Monroe, loved playing bridge with her bridge club, and especially treasured receiving the “Mom of the Year” award. Dolores created a home where friends were always welcome. She and Johnny T. were known for their Greek Easter celebrations, and during Neville High School football season, their pre-game parties. They enjoyed any opportunity to spend time and laugh with their friends. It was a rare day when someone did not comment on Dolores’ beauty and grace.
Dolores passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family and caregivers on January 16, 2025. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Johnny T. Johnson, who died on January 16, 2017, and their son, Michael Todd Johnson and grandson, Ryan Johnson; parents, Ivy and Lena Wallace; sister, Yvonne Elliot. She is survived by her children, Virginia Vicini (Edward); Victoria Johnson; Jay Johnson; Jill Friloux (Paul); and Jenifer Woodard (Brian); grandchildren, Jack and Sam MacAdam; Courtney Loyacano (Matt) and Thomas Johnson; Ruby Friloux; Michael, Lleyton and Ely Walker; and great-grandchildren, Bennett and Emery Loyacano; Rylan Johnson; and Layden Johnson.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ronald Woods, Derrick Covington, Lorrie Covington Hayes, Lisa Brooks, Margaret Conner, Tamica Blunt, Charlotte Brock, Destiny DuBose, Beatrice Lee, Fremeca Conner, Jeanette Mitchell sisters, and Ora Lee McGee for the extraordinary, compassionate and tender care they provided to their beautiful mother, and to Saqib Roy for making her daily car rides around Monroe so special. The family would also like to thank Saundra Robinson for her caring friendship with Dolores and her tireless business management support. Dolores and her family were blessed to have them in their life. The Johnson family’s love will always continue for Lilly Jefferson and Verdalia Charleston.
Honoring Dolores as pallbearers will be Jack and Sam MacAdam, Michael, Lleyton and Ely Walker, Bennet Loyacano, Jimmy Bershen, and Paul Douglas.
Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Johnson, Dr. Ronald Woods, Guy Campbell, Dr. Warren Green, and Gregory Hudgins.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M., Monday, January 20, 2025, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.
A service of remembrance for Dolores Wallace Johnson will be held at 11:00 A.M.,
