I cried so hard when I found out winter had passed. She was my inspiration and my idol. I felt an odd connection to her as soon as I saw the movie. When I was 8, I visited her at clear water marine aquarium, I got to take pictures with hope and observe winter. I love winter, and I’m devastated that she is gone. But, she’s happier now with her whole tail and she deserves the happiness. We love you winter, and we will always miss you. ❤️

RIP Winter. I remember this movie vividly. I had just moved from North Carolina to Texas. One Friday night in September I watched this movie at a local pool, the night it got released on blu ray. Times were so much simpler back then. This was the first movie where I fully understood the emotion behind it. The way this film communicated emotion with younger people is unmatched.

This movie came out around the time that I was diagnosed with scoliosis and a rare muscle disorder. I struggled with simple things like tying my shoes or carrying in groceries. When I watched this movie it inspired me to never give up and keep pushing through the pain and stay in PT I thought if Winter can overcome it so can I. And funnily enough when I underwent a major Spinal Fusion surgery for the scoliosis the second movie came out. I saw it a few months after that and cried. Winter inspires so many people and I am one of those people. She lived sixteen years because CMA did not give up on her and believed in her, and because of my orthopedic surgeon I am able to do things without being in pain. I think it’s so amazing how Sawyer and Winter connect, how they truly trust one another. Every animal has a person they connect with the most, they truly love the one person they really want to be with the one that they trust with their life, Sawyer is Winter’s person. He was the one that freed her from that crab trap, he stuck by her through thick and thin. Sawyer finally found something that is worth getting excited about because in the beginning he wasn’t happy with his life he found it dull and boring and lonesome but Winter saved him in a way. I have an animal that is attached to me, it’s a horse. I’m a horseback rider and I have to become one with my horse, I have to trust her and she has to trust me. I’m so in tune with her it’s like we are one and not two. We even meditate together, I breathe in and out and she does the same we even do it in unison we are best friends, I couldn’t ask for a better horse than my horse.
