Dolpo are Nyari people but after the downfall of Ngari dynasty including Dolpo people many Himalayan people are left untouched by Lhasa administration. Eventually during the Gorkha invasion of Western Tibet, it invaded Himalayan region. It is the place of Kunkhen Dolpo.

Most of western researchers told that to see real ancient Tibetan civilization and culture will get only in dolpa and upper mustang . Coz in Tibet, the China 🇨🇳 have sinixized Tibetan culture and traditions into Tibetan -Chinese culture. Real old tibet exist in upper dolpa and upper mustang. This people are isolated Tibetan . Northern Nepal bordering Tibet have different dialect or vernacular similar to the other side of Tibet. Those days; borders were opened & intermarriage; cross border trade were popular. Nepalese call these area Tibet བོད་ Tibetans Bote བོད་པ་ Those days, any one of Bote held government post, last names were Bote, these days last names are Lama or Sherpa & so on, These areas included in greater Tibet མངའ་རིས་སྐོར་གསུམ་ ཆོལ་ཁ་གསུམ་་.
