Really impressed with your teaching. Reg Newer Analogy for DNS, it can be something like Rather than remembering someone's home address, we can ask them to send their location via google maps

Thanks madam ! Pretty clear and concise !! Clearly understood Just like To reach an address - > We go to World -> country -> state -> city -> street - address root domain -> TLD server -> SLD server (godaddy) -> address (save address in DNS cache for future use)

Thank you for this and your other videos which are clear and well-presented. I have a couple of questions on this one. Is it the case that the SLD name server will ask other SLD name servers for the amazon IP address if it doesn't have it? Does the TLD name server receive the response from the SLD and so hold it in cache?

Hi John-eq5cd! Thanks for watching! 😊 The SLD servers aren't able to communicate with each other, but in theory, they'd never need to. The TLD server (responsible for the ".com" part) will look up the SLD server (responsible for the "amazon" part) and then send the request to that server. So the correct server should be identified by the TLD before things ever get to the SLD. And yes, the TLD server will cache responses from the SLD for a certain period of time (the TTL, or Time to Live). Hopefully that helps?
