Us muslims need to remind us that our Islam is not limited to the time our foreheads touch the prayer rug. It's what we do in between.

As difficult as it may be to imagine doing this, you need to consider reporting this violence to someone. You are old enough to survive on your own, but your younger siblings are at continuous risk. I suggest contacting the organization that this woman represents, and let them guide you

Plan your escape with your mother if it's possible and at the right moment: go without looking back. I don't see any other possible solutions, you should have the strength to break the chain with your father without leaving traces. A new life is waiting for you.

Too help combat domestic violence our NSW police Force introduced awareness programs in High School to educate the youth about violence and gangs. One Primary School of yr 5 and 6 students Greenacre Public produced a song Women are strong and champions and introduced a program called RESPECT so that young men learn to respect young women before they reach puberty. Maybe the Canadian Government could do similar programs if they don’t have so already.

As a dv and ipv survivor, the Muslim community seems to be the most truly concerned and organized with dealing with it. For most Christian and catholic homes and communities, it’s a fact of life. And civil resources and public efforts are inadequate.

It's very hard to determine when domestic violence is actually criminal in case of the Muslims, because violence against the women is a crucial part of Islam, and different schools of jurisprudence have different standards, especially in case of those Muslims who interpret the Islamic sources by themselves, so it's a different situation in the Islamic families than in case of the western families, which actually apply to the western standards.
@TechMan1900

Domestic violence is never okay, and whether it is criminal is matter of law, not cultural background. If you are in an area where it is illegal, the law won’t account for your personal views. Listen to what is said about toxic masculinity in the talk.

@@ivanos_95 you realise religious abuse is really common in both eastern and western Christianity? Womens day was a result of secularism inspired from the USSR, a nation that banned Judaism and Orthodoxy (but not Islam or Buddhism) and made women worldwide realise that once she has financial power, she can just get up and leave. Conservatives tried breaking feminism because of the red scare and "breaking traditional values"
@ivanos_95
@ivanos_95 Жыл бұрын
@@khaddy72632u No, any form of abuse, especially physical violence towards women is against the tradition in both the western and eastern churches, thats's why we don't need such thing as woman's day in Christianity, but instead have diffrient days when we celebrate specific female-saints.

Not just muslim communities, I see it everywhere here in Poland too, which is very catholic - and the common denominator in most domestic violence cases is always some form of twisted religiosity, or demonic ideology like some form of nationalism, hidden under the pseudo-catholic symbolism, so they can roleplay "traditionalists" who put women in the kitchen (which is pretty much anti-catholic, because "man working, women staying home" is pretty new concept, historically driven). So yeah, when I see someone who poses as very 'religious', but can't tell even the basics of the religion he claims to believe in, theres a great chance he beats his wife too.
