This video motivated me to make my own cs like game for me and my friends. I started a few days ago and every time i get discouraged i just watch this video again.

The way valve does the camera is that its placed just shy of the right eye closer to the nose. Shots come from the camera instead of the weapon and the animation for bullet tracers follows a path from the tip of the gun to the hitscan collision..

By the way, did you notice that the people that played around 600-900 hrs say that they've wasted too much time when playing, however the ones who played around 5k hours and more say "eh, not too much"?

Camera definitely needs to be on the head, as the chest camera placement would just create more confusion when it comes to taking cover.

A seperate viewport for hands, arms and weapons. Only display bodies for other players and only render the local players body on death while disabling viewport camera. Are you using RPC calls for bodies? If so read up on Client and Server RPC's in order to get your networking correct, as it may be a problem with your code. I myself had a problem with rendering bodies correctly because of my messy code and the RPC calls being incorrect. In order to correct the weird ragdoll physics, I guess you have collision on the weapons and not attaching those to the ragdoll-component, causing glitchy movement because ragdoll and guns are intersecting each other. Put ragdolls and guns in different layers and disable the physics between them in the collision tree under Physics in Project Settings. PS, there are no chickens on D2 ;)

Hi, how did you make arms stick to the camera without it looking wierd in third person?

if you're viewing the player in third person, id use a spine rotating script to show what the player is looking at, that just updates in late update. So for our multiplayer game we did something like this if(player owned) {disable body and just show arms and use the camera to rotate the arms} if(player not owned) {enable whole body and use spine rotation script} its kind of confusing haha, hope this helped

you can set the player camera to mask out the body, but the world still knows the body is there so it casts shadows
