Dominar 400 coolent issue | Explained and resolved | Coolent problem

I by mistake Said check your air filter to narrow down the problem at 5:30... Sorry it was Oil filter...I was in full Josh 😁
Coolant drains completely (somewhere between 800-1000km ) from the reservoir tank after top-up.
This problem started around ODO 9000km and now my ODO is 29600. Problem solved at 27600
During ride this is a big issue because we really don't know where exactly it is disappearing :(
There are possibility for it to mix with engine oil and damage your engine.
There are multiple reasons why coolent drains..
1. Your coolent motor seal is faulty
2. Your radiator pipes is faulty
3. Your radiator lid or its leaking somewhere in radiator
4. Your engine head gasket is weak
5. Split engine casing and applied some glue I and fixed it back suspecting leak somewhere in joints.
8. Something wrong with your engine
I got the fix from Khivraj Bajaj, Kasturba Road, Bangalore.

I am at odo 29000 km where the problem started at 9000 and fixed at 28000... please do something...I have 1000 km to laps my warranty but am scared with my experience and feel that I will come across this soon... kindly look into this... As other Dominar owners are also worried..
Having said all this...it's a premium Bajaj bike please work on their problems and get a fix...
Hope we will not go down like Himalayan...

*ECU never kicks in water pump, water pump functions at all times through a mechanical spindle. ECU just activates the radiator fan when required* who told you ECU activates water pump ??

@@hari4506 after oil change it has run 500km and coolent is just above min in cold condition upright position... Correct? You can check your oil filter and check... If it's straight then you can top-up and ride having said that please also consult with your Mechanic once...

@@amco8772 bhai it is a value for money bike having said that there are few common problem with all bikes 1. Vibration (I have got used to it now) 2. Cheap Quality (cost cutting has made Bajaj to compromise on quality) 3. Few bikes have coolent problem too.. With all this problem I still love this bike 😉 I would recommend you to rent a Dominar take it for a spin and then decide.....

Bhai, Your video is awesome and cleared many of my doubts. I've read all the comments and got minimum knowledge about this issue. I got a new Dominar 2019 UG and it's 120kms on ODO. My coolant level at PDI is 70% and now it dropped to 25%. Is it common for new bikes to consume coolant oil like this? Should I just make a top-up and wait for the first service and get the oil filter checked to verify if I'm having the same issue or not. Meanwhile if I have to do it, My major concern is what is the impact of this issue on engine? If something is really faulty, can I ask for a replacement?

Thank you bhai 🙏😊. Yes it is common with new bikes so nothing to worry. Now if it is between min and max then you don't have to do a top-up. You have to worry only when you don't c any coolant in the reservoir.. then do a topup, if still draining then check the oil filter ... If coolant is leaking but is not mixing with oil then you will get a temperature warning and your bike will stop but if it's mixing with engine oil then it can harm your engine.. If bike is under warranty then yes you can ask them to fix it in warranty... Replacement of the bike may not happen.. If it is so worst and they are not able to fix it then they may replace engine.. Believe I answered all your questions 👍🙏

We bought our dominar 400 last june, Now with 450km odometer. Nagpa changoil si hubby. Ang baba na kasi ng coolant. Pero after mg change oil at maglagay ng coolant. Ilang takbo palang ppugak pugak na ung motor. Tpos may nakalagay na high coolant temperature sa screen

This is really informative. My dominar is only 1.5 months old but too worried about what will happen in near future if the same happens. In kolkata its difficult to get service centre to update ecu, leave alone opening Engine and resolving coolant issue. Bajaj I love Dominar but these issues should be addressed. 1.85 L is not a small amount.

Dont worry this problem was mainly problem with 2 or 3 batches of dominar. As far as i know 2018 edition does have this problem. Hope none of faces this and Bajaj fixes it properly in newer bikes

HI Rafiq, I have the same issue with coolant, it's getting drained even at 500 km. I spoke to one mechanic he said engine head needs to be changed..he saw the engine oil colour and decided never checked oil filter

Bhai I think he ment engine head gasket. But to avoid multiple visit to SC request him to check everything. You can show him this video. If you are from Bangalore then I would recommend you to take it to Khivraj Bajaj Kasturba road SVC.

After covering 30000 kilometers I'm facing this issue that my coolent is draining too fast and the engine is getting too hot in quickly and fan is working continually 1.There is no leakages in pipes or containers 2.Didnt mix with engine oil 3.Bajaj can't find anything they said it's normal but I don't think so because the engine heat is like Harley Davidson getting down to my legs.! So if this is the head gasket problem ( I think so) how much it will cost bro...? Mine is 2017 first batch dominar..

It was covered under warranty for me so not sure about the cost bro. Did you check oil filter? Also how fast is it draining? Every 500km? Also check radiator cap and if there is any physical damage to the tank.

Bro even I have started facing similar issue, at 25k Kms it was serviced at Highlander HSR and coolant changed, just been a month and I noticed coolant is zero. But there is no abnormal heating issue, engine oil color is also normal, have not checked oil filter yet, but service center just did top up and asked to observe. Also it's first batch bike so 3yrs already done. This started after coolant change. What can be the reason.

No riding position is not that good for long. I would recommend you to wait. 2017 and 18 dominar where really good. Infact I will keep my bike for 2 more years.. i would recommend you to rent bike that u like ad do 100+ during weekends that will clear ur doubt on comfort.. rest is on internet 👍

Hi Bro, thanks for the video. My case it is 200ns. Coolant level decreases within 1 day or 2 in Bangalore traffic. First it had mixed with engine oil through water pump O ring seals. Changed it and now its not mixing with engine oil. But Coolant level still decreasing within 2 days. Does a faulty thermostat valve can cause this decreasing level issue..? Please help me m struggling with this issue for more than 4 months.. tried different mechanics

Good day bhai.. I am not very technical how ever I did call the guy who fixed my bikes issue... He said thermostat valve has nothing to do with coolent problem and with his experience on NS he said " if it is draining after changing pump seal then the cause is head gasket..." You can check with Khivraj Kasturba SVC they will help you to fix this problem...

if your coolant level is good then no worries.. however if you have doubt then remove oil filter and you can check. but it must be a a filter which is used for not more than 2k odo . Very old filter can create confusions. and the bubble part.. we can't say anything without examining or cing it. usually its cn in some dominar which has no issues during cold start. maybe because of oil. so don't worry. enjoy your ride 👍

KTM and Bajaj have this common issue... Oil filter gives a sign.. reason for drain can be 1) Motor pump seal 2) head gasket 3) engine case We need to narrow down by trying to replace one after other

coolent entering Engine = bye bye engine... this link shows what would happen : kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHnLgZ-en7uEes0 also based on oil filter checking that was really goood pointer (for quick verification) but bent filter pleats is not the sign , the change in color of engine oil from black/brown to "murky or creamy color" that indicates it is a problem. and coolant is in circulation moment the engine is 'on' and radiator fan is On when engine temperature (this is done with help of thermostat) cross a particular temperature limit (based on manufacturer's design parameters) . KTM and bajaj uses a Open loop cooling system where the tank / reservoir tank (that shows the level of coolant to be maintained ) has one purpose to fill in/top up for coolant that evaporates/ evaporation loss from radiator ... How this loss happens google it.. its a really a looong study material... (even i have paused ) I hope this has given some more clarity and raise curiosity to learn some more about the motorcycles....

But if the coolent measuring window is completely green (that is above max and u don't c any empty space in that coolent measuring window) then u can open the coolent container cap (secondary container and it's the same monitoring tank) and check if you c coolent till neck or till lid or overflowing... If no then no worries... Because even if coolent expands it raises 2-3mm max in that monitoring window which is not much and u have enough empty space.. though u have it above max... I think I am not confusing you 😬

There where some similar cases in 2018 model too. But you don't have to worry.. I think this is also because there was less coolent in the main tank. Just topup and run.. if it drains again then let me know.

To be frank Bajaj has no finding on how to point out the cause... They do it on trial basis 😔

Oil will never prove it because it gets filtered and your filter gets the hit...

Hello brother.. I did not find any oil colour change in my bike. Where do you stay? If Bangalore then take it to khivraj Kasturba . Mechanic will say anything to just shuuu you away. But possibility is that your oil filter is old 5k+ run and coolant is leaking somewhere externally.

@@crazy_life no brother i recently got service my bike from ktm svc and then i ride my bike around 2k km . and this problem of coolant dropping is start. now i re-changed my oil filter & lets see after 3k km if there blades were bent or not. but I live in moradabad UP. my problem is same as u . my engine oil colour will also look like new but oil filter blades were bend . no external leak I checked every possible way . I changed my radiator cap also. and my bike were parked around 7-8 days no coolant drop were found on floor . my bike coolant drops when I start ride my bike . and then after come back to home after run around 50 km & then check there I found there is comparitively low coolant level when I start riding.around 50 ml will consume in 50 km.

Wat happens is that there will be air in your radiator take and while riding it comes out resulting in coolant to reduce in radiator tank so it will consume from secondary tank which is visible to you that's how it reduces. Refill and ride then check if it doesn't stay there even after 3 refills then check your oil filter as explained in video... Don't worry this will not be a mix with engine in your case..

Walaikum Salam bhai. Sorry for late reply Bhai. Yes bikes sound had changed in my case too... But I don't know if I got used to it or if it was something I was feeling out of nothing... Now I feel it's the same sound as other bikes... But it was not rough and the vibrations where as usual only... U can check if the bedding bolts are tightened properly also you can try other bike to check... This Saturday night we DOCB are riding to Kunigal for dinner... If you have minimum riding gear (jacket, gloves, helmet) you can join us... U can compare your bike there..

@@vishnu1002 bro my issue got resolved ... the coolant was mixing up with engine oil ... as the coolant seal was broken in the engine. i replaced all the coolant seals in the engine at showroom . problem is gone and the bike is fine .... after replacing all the seals give the bike for full service .... and ride the bike slow for 100 kms from that point .. dont rev too much or redline it frequently

Bro good video, my bike is just 2 month old, 18th July i bought it, after first service was done i saw oil leakage over and across oil filter... the leakage is only while driving... i have left it for check up today... the engineer was claiming its coolant... but i feel its engine oil not coolant, and that kid does not know what he is talking about... hope he does. Bhai there are 4 things responsible for this issue which again will be followed step by step.. 1. They will flash ECU. If no result then next step. 2. They will replace fuel filter and air filter. If no result then next step. 3. Replace throttle body. (This has fixed power lag issue for most of them) has to be done under warranty if your bike is eligible for warranty. 4. Fuel pump replacement. It's very rare that this could be the issue.. when bike is turned on it should pump 180ml (+-5ml) anything less than that will cause power issues...

That is not a problem bhai ... When the bike is new it sometimes goes down but stops after few days... That's because the main container may not have 750ml in it and takes required quantity from secondary tank. But is the bike new and what is your ODO.
