@@ryankoech Without seeing detailed practice test results, I don't know your exact strengths and weaknesses. That said, students are generally able to make the biggest gains on SC in a relatively short amount of time, so you might want to prioritize that over the next few weeks. I also believe that you'd benefit from a structured study plan and comprehensive review of all of the most important verbal topics and strategies, with targeted practice. You'll get that in our Full GMAT Verbal Course: www.dominatethegmat.com/gmat-verbal-course/. What is your "why" for wanting to go back to business school in the first place? If that's strong enough, it should drive you to do what's necessary to figure out the GMAT piece of things. As I've said in some of my other videos, the GMAT is a beatable test. The math can be learned -- I can teach it to you in a way that you'll be able to understand! But the desire to put in the necessary work has to come from your "why." Connect with that, and you should have the right perspective to keep pressing forward. You've got this! I'm here to help.

Taking a practice test every week sounds scary because I feel like I am not even close to being ready for that. I know you're right but it feels daunting, especially for Quant
@dominatethegmat4 жыл бұрын
Don't think about it as once-a-week, then. Start by thinking about it as THIS week. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Don't think about the whole elephant. Just take that first bite. Yes, it can be intimidating to take that first practice test, especially when you don't feel ready. But it's better to know where you stand and to start honing your time management than to keep your head buried in the sand. And here's the thing: Almost nobody does well on their first practice test! So go into it knowing that. If your score isn't great, so what? It's just practice. You can improve from there. It'll be fun to look back and see how far you've come as your subsequent practice test scores go up!

Can I prepare for a GMAT test it one month?
@dominatethegmat3 жыл бұрын
Short answer: Yes. Long answer: It depends on what your baseline starting point is and how much time you have to devote to your prep. To give you an idea, my course is designed around an 8-week study plan that assumes 8-10 hours per week. But I regularly have people sign up for the course just a few weeks before their GMAT, and they still get great results by moving through the content at a faster-than-prescribed pace.

Is solving OG good enough as a practice for 650+ ?
@dominatethegmat3 жыл бұрын
Yes. The questions get progressively harder as the question numbers get higher, and many of the higher-numbered questions in each chapter are 650+. That said, the GMAC did release a separate book of "Advanced Questions" containing 150 hard verbal questions and 150 hard quantitative questions from past exams. But it's definitely possible to score 700+ with just the "main" OG. And as I remind my students, make sure you can walk before you try to run!

@@dominatethegmat Thanks a lot for detailed response. It just gave me the much needed confidence. I'll focus on OG henceforth.

Sir, how much time should I spend on a questions where I am struggling??
@dominatethegmat2 жыл бұрын
It varies depending on where you are in the section. If it's earlier on in the section, spend a little more time wrestling with the question before making an educated guess; if it's late in the section, cut your losses sooner so that you can use the remaining time on questions you may have a better chance at solving.

Hi Brett, i hope you are fine. I would like you to make video for students who are not at all good in Maths or English and they want to ace gmat with an excellent score. What basic essentials skills or knowledge a students needs to learn or aquire in order to score a 700 plus. If you explain it briefly, i would be really thankful. Regards, An international student.

BK A Thanks for the suggestion. In the meantime, you’ll find dozens of videos teaching exactly what you’re talking about in my courses, with a step-by-step study plan. A 700 is definitely possible, even if you’re currently behind in your quant and verbal skills!

Great video! I had 1 question regarding the "learn daily" phase. Will the GMAT guide book be enough to learn the strategies behind each problem?
@dominatethegmat4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Which GMAT book are you talking about? The GMAT Official Guide is NOT good for actually learning content and strategies. It's best as a source of practice problems. Frankly, I haven't found any books that are sufficient as stand-alone instruction, at least not for the methodologies and strategies I teach that my students have found most helpful. Most books have some content review, but again, you'll probably need a course or tutoring of some sort if you really want to learn how to dominate the GMAT. It's rare to score 700+ on the GMAT by studying alone from a book, in my experience.

Hi Brett, can I buy a used official guide or does it have to be a new one to be able to get access to online resources? I heard the official guide also has links to some online resources but will need access.

Good question. If the code has already been used and is tied to the previous owner's e-mail address with Wiley, then it won't work for you to attach the same code to your own Wiley account. But if the previous owner never used it, then you should be good to go. Depending on who you're buying the used book from, you may want to ask them to un-register from Wiley to free up the code. Hopefully that will work for you. This is the first time I've had someone ask me this, though, so please let me know what you ultimately determine!

GMAT is easy or difficult exam?? But thank you for the videos🎥
@dominatethegmat4 жыл бұрын
The perception of difficulty is relative to the individual test-taker. Some students find it more difficult than others. Of course it becomes much easier if you take a prep course like mine!
