I only really play solo. But my advice to you is if you want to learn and become better at the game play solo to. Maybe start out on a SOLO DUO TRIO server before going to bigger servers and learn the basics. If you want to get better with guns, bows etc jump on UKN and practice them, however I would just play and over time you will eventually become better. :)
