In one of the first games of the season, Narveson’s “field goal range” line was at the EIGHTEEN yard line. It’s jarring that we now have a kicker that we only need to get to the forty for.

Losing Quay was addition through subtraction. Quay misses too many assignments. Eric Wilson provided a glimpse of what this defense can be with competent LBs on the field. Quay is very athletic, but hasn't been able to make the reads.

In a post-game interview, McManus spoke about how he is much more strict and particular in his practice with the kicking unit than what they were used to. Does this indirectly point to bad coaching?

The Green Bay Packers held C.J. Stroud to career lows in completions, passing yards, and net passing yards in a suffocating performance last Sunday at Lambeau Field. C.J. Stroud, the NFL’s Offensive Rookie Of The Year in 2023, completed 10 of 21 passes for 86 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions. He averaged 4.1 yards per attempt, lost 31 yards on 4 sacks and finished with a passer rating of 58.8. Pressure was the key. According to Next Gen Stats, C.J. Stroud was under pressure on 48.5% of his dropbacks, a new career high. He completed only 3 passes under pressure. Matt Lafluer said that the Green Bay Packers never let C.J. Stroud get comfortable. C.J. Stroud completed just 1 pass over 20 yards, a 28-yard completion to Dalton Schultz. When targeting receivers Stefon Diggs and Tank Bell, C.J. Stroud was 5-for-11 for 23 yards. The Houston Texans finished with only 6 passing 1st downs. The Green Bay Packers defense allowed 22 points, but the number is misleading. Of the 22 points, 16 came directly off of turnovers that gave the Houston Texans the football inside the 20-yard line. On the 9 drives starting without a turnover, the Houston Texans scored just 6 points and punted 6 times. The Green Bay Packers finished with 7 quarterback hits and 4 sacks. Of the 4 sacks, 3 came off blitzes. Xavier McKinney’s 1st-half sack knocked the Houston Texans out of field goal range and forced a punt. Eric Wilson’s sack ended the Houston Texans’ 1st drive of the 2nd half after 3 plays. Eric Wilson ended another 2nd-half drive with a sack on 3rd down near midfield. The Houston Texans were without their top receiver Nico Collins and veteran Robert Woods, but it’s still difficult to downplay how well the Green Bay Packers contained a top young quarterback in a big game. The road to the Super Bowl is littered with elite quarterbacks. On a day when the Green Bay Packers didn’t record a takeaway, a pressure-filled performance from the defensive front and a smothering coverage effort on the backend teamed up to create a dominant result from Jeff Hafley’s defense against a top passer. Go Pack Go 💚💚💛💛

Peter said the first int was the one he can’t live with but it was actually a good play by the defense. They had double out routes on the outside and the DB closer to the boundary let go his man to jump the route. Nice play on his part and next time Love will look for that instead of predetermining his throw. Easy rectification and good gamble by the DB.

I don’t think this game was a masterpiece from the offense, or from MLF, and special teams was a hot mess. But, I can see why our new DC got a game ball. The defense executed exceptionally well, but credit to Hafley for putting them into position to be successful.

Houston only stayed in this game because of GB mistakes. GB dominated Stroud in defence. Study the all 22, and the only thing you walk away with is that the Packers should have won by a LOT more. Houston got beat up. Offence just didn't lay in the boots.
