I am a C&C Generals Zero Hour player since 2007. I've just discovered something new. I would like to write something about the lag problem in Zero Hour that has caused many people to stop playing. Zero hour v1.0 doesn't have any lag issue. Even in the Twilight flame map, you can play against 7 hard ai without any lag. (As in base game Generals v1.08) Also, path finding is way better on v1.0. For example, cliffs on maps don't matter in v1.0. The CPU doesn't gather vehicles at the edges of the cliffs. The units follow the path as they should. But path finding bug exits in v1.01, v1.02 , v1.03 and v1.04 There is also a massive memory leak bug in v1.01, v1.02 , v1.03 and v1.04. The reason for these errors is the game.dat file. 1.01, 1.02, 1.03 and 1.04 patches are official and released by EA. In short, although EA fixed a few bugs in Zero Hour with the patches, also these patches greatly damaged the game in terms of game performance and path finding. By comparing the "game.dat version 1.0" file with the "game.dat version 1.04" files, this error causing memory leak can be detected. As far as I know, the programming language of .dat files is Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0. We can also use Hex editor or something. Someones should compare the 1.0 and 1.04 versions of the game.dat file and identify the differences. Then, version 1.04 of game.dat file should be fixed. (programming skills are required for this) NOTE: There are both v1.0 and v1.04 files in the archive. When you want to switch to v1.0, copy the v1.0 files to the ZH folder. Likewise, when you want to switch to v1.04, copy the v1.04 files to the ZH folder. (This is a manual method for switching between versions. You don't need any installation) Don't look at "Options" in the menu. The version written there is determined by the registry. You can test this yourself. Please play against 7 hard ai in twilight flame map in v1.0. (I repeat, the twilight flame map is an example used when testing. I think this is the most suitable map for use in testing because it is the most problematic map). You will understand what I mean. Domi, speaking of unique maps. What about a map with empty, capturable units? I.e. one comanche (full or low health) covered in oil barrels in each corner of the map? Would lead to interesting dynamics and tactics.

I sometimes wonder if Size is really trying to show off by floating so much money, or if he's intentionally handicapping himself to give others a halfway decent fighting chance against him given the continuously high level he's usually playing at. That said I dunno about this game, he just didn't really seem to care or be trying.

i really like how this map changes the balance like you said, it actually makes china in general slightly more viable because china usually is bad at spreading it's base unlike gla and even usa, so they are able more easily to defend and hold for their tank spam, also the refinery making their tanks cheaper and so much oil they won't have to worry too much about having loads of hackers.

Even the part where Size was floating 25k and building particles, he should of instead built a butt-ton of war factories like Domi usually does with GLA on power and spammed vees. At that point in time, Excal did not have much units except for a decent amount of buggies and quads. If Size had poured all his money into vees, by sheer numbers, Size could've overwhelmed Excal with an insane amount of vees. That being said, when you're in the moment, you sometimes choke or don't think of these things.

I am far from a pro player but I've been playing zero hour for years and I don't understand why no one is playing with USA super weapon and building a bunch of Patriot defense system?

Pros are all expected to play random vs random. If you choose Swg you will get kicked from pro games or just die. Swg is one of the weakest factions due to expensive vees. If you open with lots of emps, your power will get targeted and you’ll die or the enemy will take over the whole map. But sometimes it can work if you place them very carefully

If size was super weapon this wouldve been a different game and excal would be the one forced to play aggressive. Size can just go fast oils and camp with emps ans build vees for defence, after that he go Aurora and cheap Burton to take out the outer oils and particles for safe ones, Sw is very strong on this map cuz there is no middle so u can camp early without getting out-economied.

Size is biggest noob from all ZH communty. Always floating 10k+ instead of makin units, buildings. No comanches for defense base... No raptors for killing holes/buggys. Barracks whole game is empty. Noob.

Vanilla USA raptors ARENT that great would be a huge loss to try to take out tunnels with them because a simple quad pop would shoot all of them down; plus camanches arent cost efficient against quads. So vanilla USA air force units are not great against tox general. Toxin rpg's and ap ammo quads are too good against basic air units. The constant cash float is a noob move. I do agree with you on that.
