Dominic Miller used his Yairi Torres nylon-string with maple back and sides and D'Addario strings to play a bit of "Shape of My Heart," a song he co-wrote with Sting. Dominic’s new album, Silent Light, is featured in the September issue of Vintage Guitar. READ NOW!!! goo.gl/H3iUGx

I used to share a table at an Italian restaurant in Battersea with Dominic. Once I asked him what he did for a living and he said he played the guitar and left it there. It wasn't until he offered me tickets to hear Sting at Albert Hall that, when I showed up, I realized that, yes he played the guitar (for Sting). That is how humble a person he is.

I recently went to a Sting concert (May 2022). I sat front row right in front of Dominic. I'd never seen or heard of him. I ended up spending most of the show watching him. He noticed and gave me his pick at the end of the show. What a class act and incredible musician.

I read in an interview with Dominic that "The Shape of My Heart" came from a simple warm-up exercise when he was starting a practice session with Sting. When Sting heard it he said "wait" and went for a walk and came back with the lyrics. Wow. True talent and genius rolled into one. Thank you Dominic for postting these inspirations!

I've played at playing guitar for 30 years. Only now as an adult have I really started to understand it musically. It is so deeply gratifying and encouraging to hear a true master speak about the writing process that I can identify with. Almost a little like Bob Ross, "Well that was a happy accident!" I have felt that compulsion to complete the circle so strong lately as I play, thank you sir for your insights! I have seen you perform live and it forever changed my perception of how the guitar enhances the music.

Genius man. The importance of practice slowly, precisely and focus on clean sound is everything. Most guitarists don't do that. They try to get faster and faster and the listener is not willing to follow and enjoy the music with it's sound melody.

This beautiful piece is not easy to play on guitar. Full of difficult finger stretches and chord shapes for the fingerboard. 3 Or 4 years, I have met Dominic Miller in the hotel I was working in Paris. I thanked him for this beautiful song, maybe the most beautiful melody in my opinion. I told him I was trying to learn it but there were too different versions on the net and can't know which one is the best. He told me very humbly that he might shoot a video to explain by himself. And not even 6 month after I found this video on KZbin... Thanks Dominic, I am glad to think that we all can watch this video a bit thanks to me

Dominic Miller's wise words and advice are such a welcome respite from this whole macho approach that wants the guitar a lethal weapon and not an instrument to touch the soul oh and his humbleness makes him even more endearing to boot (try not to be full of yourself after playing guitar with Sting for 1/3 of a century). No wonder then he is a musician's musician of the highest order, thank you Dominic.

The harmonic is definitely easier but playing it means you're constrained to playing this in this specific key only; you can't transpose up or down. I'm guessing that is also why he chooses to play that A note on the 5th fret of the thickest string with his ring finger when he can just play an open A string.

this was brilliant.. i wonder how many times did he ask himself _ what if i made a quick video on YT?.. before he actually resolved to doing it. i’m really glad he ended up doing it. It serves to show that a really honest video..very pure, in its intention, and tone of altruistic force Só truthful.. What a cool guy. i knew he was talented..and great, as he and Sting would have not been touring together for so long..if they weren’t both really good, and honoring of their friendship..and passion for music. but , it’s actually different..seeing it for ourselves.as we watch his sharing. thanks for posting. cheers

Dominic Miller is one of the finest guitar players in the world. I've been a fan of his since my early teenage days, still listen to him with the very same enthusiasm today.

Recently watched an interview with Sting and Dominic Miller on KZbin. As I remember the interview was in New York and Sting had a dental appointment before the interview At first I was questioning why Dominic Miller was with Sting for the interview. I must admit I was not a Sting fan...only because I knew little about his history. Then I became a huge Sting fan.....and after the interview I watched I was introduced to Dominic Miller....and know why they were together for the interview. It is obvious that Sting attributes his success to Dominic Miller as they have been together for decades. In that interview it was apparent that Dominic Miller is articulate, intelligent and a true artist always challenging his craft. Sting also is in that same category,, Having been self-turned on to Sting (and Dominic MIller's music)....I had the great luck and pleasure to find Sting Live Berlin on KZbin....one of the best concerts I have had the opportunity to view. Of course, playing to the left of Sting was Dominic Miller....a true perfectionist of his musical career...and someone who continues to explore his craft as witnessed in this video.
