Damar and Dukat (Biggs and Alaimo) are such great tragic villains. The characters would not have worked without such great acting. Same with Jeffrey Coombs
@beav19623 жыл бұрын
They yo-yo'd Dukat's motivations so much. I never felt bad for him, for anything. He and Winn really deserved each other. He got what he deserved, to be trapped with the pah wraith forever. But I agree that Alaimo, Biggs, and Combs were great in their roles.
@drockjr3 жыл бұрын
@@beav1962 it was my understanding that Dukat was to be written as Sisko's counterpoint. You are right to not feel sorrow for Dukat, he was written as a professional villain, not necessarily a tragic villain. Siskos baseball and it's transition to Dukat is a good symbol of this. Just like baseball, they have their turns to bat and run the bases, but after the game is done, they are just regular magical wormhole aliens

Often in a post scarcity society, the biggest most difficult to replace asset is manpower. The Dominion have their jemhadar, the federation has cadets from agrarian worlds
@banananotebook33312 жыл бұрын
Not really post-scarcity, since it's not like if I, a civilian, wanted 3 Galaxy-Class ships for myself, I doubt I'd get it. It's a post-poverty society by design, we can do that today if we mathematically redistributed the resources, but there are still strategic resources, like dilithium or pergium, and most fundementally energy itself.

And didn't it look like based on what he was saying, his general mouth movements looked exactly the same as speaking English?
@polycrystallinecandy3 жыл бұрын
@@JnEricsonx Yeah, that's something you have to kind of ignore in Star Trek when they use universal translators (which is pretty much all the time). Another thing is that translation is shown to be without any delay. But due to differences in language structure, it would be impossible. For example, in some languages you can have subject at the end of the sentence, and you'd have to hear the entire sentence before you can translate.
@JnEricsonx3 жыл бұрын
@@polycrystallinecandy I'm guessing for ease's sake, Jeffrey just read the Vorta translation and they dubbed it over his original performance.

@@captaindraco2286 actually all evidence points towards Insurrection occurring during the Dominion War it would make sense that despite war on diplomats would still be trying to negotiate a peace. Furthermore the Son'a were Federation allies for quite some time as they were sanctioned by the Federation in previous years for subjugating of the Tarlac and Ellora, the novelisation of Insurrection indicates not all Son'a went back to the Baku, feeling betrayed they could have joined the Dominion and they had a Ketrecel White facility as talked about in DS9 episode Penumbra.
