This video was too long for me to include the research priority segment, so I'll at least share my notes in this comment for those that are interested: CONJ(higher priority in early game for underwater warfare, also good on land) 3 - powers/elementals 4 - light of the northern star, school of sharks, flame jellies 5 - elementals, howl(w/ pearl mage), naiad, hekateride, winter wolves 6 - troll kings, troll shaman, shark attack, daktyls, fire snakes, ladon, hesperide, lamia queen 7 - elementals, ivy king(vine ogres) ALT(higher priority in early game for terrestrial warfare) 2 - earth meld 3 - buffs 4 - curse of stones, swarm, more buffs, quickness(formation fighter + slow CS makes AoE1 buffs more efficient for you to cast) 5 - iron warriors(formation fighter + slow CS), maws of the earth, incinerate, wooden warriors, bone melter 6 - battle fortune, frozen heart 7 - fog warriors, marble warriors, creeping doom, mass protection, doom, sea of ice(if you have a bloody nose and just want to be left alone in a pond) EVO(good in early game, less utility than conj/alt) 2 - rust mist(doesn't effect bronze armor), sulphur haze 3 - mist, magma bolts, acid bolts 4 - thunder strike(better w/ storm + storm power), blade wind(against unarmored chaff), acid rain 5 - storm(disrupts projectiles), gifts from heaven, earthquake, falling fires, falling frost 6 - wrathful skies(w/ shock resistance), perpetual storm(w/ big UW territory, also disrupts projectiles), magma eruption, astral fires, mind hunt 7 - rain of stones(against unarmored mages), fire storm, storm of thorns, acid storm 8 - second sun(silly) CONST(situational in early game) 0 - snake rings 2 - dwarven hammer, clam of pearls, fire in a jar, acorns, owl quills, dragon helmet/fire plate(mage protection), shambler skin armor, coral blade, bows(communion masters set to fire after script) 3 - legions of steel 4 - crystal coin, crystal matrix(troll shaman), water lens, earth boots, robe of the sea, rune smasher(magic penetration), thistle mace 6 - living water bottles, elixir of life(hesperides can make these), moonvine bracelets, rings of sorcery/wizardry, water bracelets, starshine skullcaps, staves of elemental mastery 7 - weapons of sharpness, golems(teleporting raiders, your nation doesn't have many good raider options but this is one) ENCH(lower priority in early game) 3 - buffs, strength of giants 4 - terracotta army, haste(combat speed for your slugs), antimagic 5 - foul vapors(w/ PR), friendly currents 6 - arrow fend, sow dragon teeth, enliven statues, heat from hell, eternal pyre(hesperide spam) THAUM(situational in early game) 1 - communions 2 - mind burn 3 - sailors' death 5 - soul slay 6 - enslave mind

honestly, one of the best blesses that i was most happy with was a elemental rainbow F3A3E6A3, with attack/def skill, precision, and 3 reinvig. hell i have had good results with them with a E10 bless of nothing but 5 reinvig

Insanity on the Royals can be cured, I think? It’s not easy, I think you need a Con8 artefact. They introduced Shattered Soul specifically so said artefact couldn’t cure things like the LA Tyrants.

Fire magic increases the age of mages whereas nature lowers it. Something I learned in dominions 4. Death seems to make old mages more resistant to disease and afflictions I believe.

About the Daduchoi: I'm pretty sure every random path a mage gets also increases their age. It feels like that's the only time I see big age jumps like that. Not 100% sure, haven't tested it.

Very quick testing seems to agree. My first daduchos got none of the 50% randoms, was 40 years old (still older than the default card says, but he did get that 100% random ofc). Second was 48 with one of the 50% randoms. Third conveniently got two and was 57.

7:49 Your comparisons here seem to agree, the one with max paths is 65!

Really liking your guides they are useful and entertaining.Something I have been wondering recently, is it really worth it going from growth 2 to 3. Considering that there are few provinces that have good to high pop I'm not so sure the extra .2% makes much of a difference really. Also tbh I can't seem to figure out a way to test this effectively

Another thing to consider is that growth scales below 3 allow you to collect the benefit from growth thrones. But the extra .2% from 2-3 helps as much as the extra .2% from 1-2 or 0-1, which is noticeably in a longer game. It is the best scale for getting more gold, but because of thrones of growth it is something you could consider cutting. I consider G3 a good habit and something you should think carefully about not having. Usually what pushes it down for me is either being a freespawn nation that doesn't benefit much from it or having the NB crosspath and therefore access to blood fecundity, paired with a desperation for design points(mictlan, xibalba).

I believe the reason is that growth scales stack with themselves, which means that 2-3 has almost the same value as 0-2. Its fun to think about the scaling of different scales. for example, the first point of magic is worth the most, by quite a wide margin. conversely, the first point of drain if not nerly as bad at 2 drain.

The disturbing part is that, other than the mermaid bit, it's surprisingly historically accurate to the Ptolemaic period the nation is based on. Ptolemaic royalty got up to some rather unpleasant stuff with their (sometimes underaged) siblings and children.
