You can use a B3N2 Gygja (preferably a B3 with a Thistle Mace) to make Armor of Twisting Thorns at Construction 4, can make grabbing Mother Oak a bit faster. Mother Oak is also harder for most people to get without an N4 pretender in LA, since Pangea no longer has automatic N4 Pans all over the place.

Another neat thing about the wolf riders: They are basically expensive humans with better defense (size 2 with 2 attacks is like a dual-weilder, but they have shields). But a semi-hidden stat is that since they are mounted they lose less defense in harrass penalty from multiple attackers.

Great video! A few extra thoughts: - Duskdaggers don't just cause bleed, they're also armor *negating*. Duskdaggers can take down pretty heavy dudes, including Earth thugs. - You have national access to Awaken Sleeper, which provides 120/80/40 standard/magic/undead leadership with formations. Ngems are tight like you say, but it could be worth it for major armies. EDIT: Realized nowadays having goodundeadleader is enough to get formations. So rather than Sleepers you could simply get Mound Kings/Banes/Bane Lords for formations. - It's unlikely the upkeep will be patched out for the Niefel Jarls. It's a pretty common occurence that nations that get summons from their earlier incarnations recruitables have to pay upkeep for them; the Oni for Shinuyama is another example. - I think you're being too harsh on Stygian Skin. It's basically stoneskin. For a wight it raises natprot from 7 to 15, which is significant even with gear.

I think Stygian acts like Barkskin but mundane? In other words, it would raise natprot to 10 if below 10. However, it would be good for Rimvaetti, and in general I think its a good bless

@@danshabash Yes, the Stygian Flesh bless is Invulnerability 10 (and yeah, I really like it too, esp on heavy armor troops with low natprot). The Stygian Skin spell however, is Invulnerability 15 (as is the spell Stygian Rains).

Mr Shades it was a bigger deal in earlier editions of d&d in pathfinder it basically gives a -2 penalty to all d20 rolls and reduces their HP, however as they are a dhampir they heal the negative levels at the end of the day, and don’t suffer any penalties for the negative levels until it would match their current level which it would then kill them. Most monsters have more hit dice than the players so it isn’t wildly overpowered.

I find your nation analysis videos very insightful, thank you. I'm wondering if you'd consider doing a LA Marignon analysis. It's a nation that intrigues me very much, and I'm very curious about the obviously loreful demon contract forging approach. I manage to get over a dozen devils per turn by year 2, ramping up 1-2 contracts per turn from there on out. But I'm very inexperienced and not quite sure how to approach expansion nor how to use many other tools. There's fire and air for the crossbows, solid royal guard that can be fluffed with astral and earth, the incredible fallen angels, sabbaths, the imp contract forging (which seems very strong too but competes a little with the devils). I can see the tools, but it's hard to tie it all together. Baphomet pretender for the first contracts and some booster forging to deleguate forging of contracts to mages is the route i feel like i want to go. Blood surge and magic resistance seems sensible for the fallen angels, and possibly fire resistance to keep sacred casters safe from the devil's heat and possibly open up heat from hell (the battlefields fatigue) is what I'm thinking. Any thoughts or chance on a more in depth look? There's literally no analysis/guide on this nation since a dom4 written guide. You'd have a monopoly haha! Cheers

Also its strange what Illwinter dont give Niefel Giants - you have Jarls and this nation most devoted follower of ancient ice giants. well, at least this spell must give ice goblin recruit bonus. Also, maybe im wrong, but i find wolf summoning is pretty powerful. Freespawns is always welcome, ask MA Ind or yes, LA Ulm.

That twiceborn into transformation play is truly jaw dropping and OP. Thanks for sharing it. Imo, anything that can get you a top tier SC chassis for 20 to 30 gems average for just Alteration 6 and Enchantment 4 are pure OP, especially for nations that don't have SC chassis. That play in itself can super empower some nation to top tier. Imagine getting those TTs with Air 2 or Earth 2. One note on the communion at the end, llamas on guard won't last too long in a real fight cause they're taking damages every turn by mage's soul vortex. It means they're taking route check every turn, and their moral aren't too high. Btw, love your ending lol.

One of the problems with the berserkers is how rarely they get a chance to berserk. For a berserker to go berserk, it has to take damage, survive, and pass a morale check vs. 12. The chance of their going berserk after taking the first hit is only 30%. The chances of them even surviving the first hit are already questionable given their low protection, hit points, defense, and lack of shield. Many of them will die outright, or fail a morale check and flee, before ever becoming enraged. This can be partially rectified later with mage support and spells such as Growing Fury and Touch of Madness, but in my testing I've found that that they're not substantially better damage dealers unless you're up against super heavily armoured troops (and you have crossbows for that) while also taking far more attrition (especially from your crossbows, and even shortbows), and costing more gold.

Also, a good mid-game solution to your leadership problem is Awaken Sleeper. You have to jump through a couple of hoops to get an N4 mage without your pretender, but it's entirely doable. 120 leadership, +1 inspirational, on a reasonably survivable humanoid chassis for only 10 nature gems.

@@niladen3460 I realize this comment is 2 months old but I think I might have a solution. Alt 3-4, your Vaetti Hag can reliably support 6 berserkers each with Mossbody and a second buff Protection/Quickness/Luck ect. It comes online very early and your berserkers will absolutely mutilate your foes, especially with quickness and now their tanking enough to get their berserk proc-ed without being one shot.

50:09 like my Major Fire Resistance, Death Explosion, Charged Bodies bless for Marignon, those Flagelants are supposed to explode as soon as they make contact, so I give them swiftness and no shock resistance (you know, going full meme), otherwise the reasons are mostly Thunder Weapons or no air path on the pretender

Hi. First all of, nice content as always. I'm still very new to this game, never played MP (yet). Isn't gonna stop me from theorycrafting, however! =) So... you mentioned their assassins in brief. The ring that gives extra attack is quite nasty. How about the temporary Vine Men item, though? Does this reduce the chance that your assassin will die, by providing some blockers? Or do Vine Men have too low of a combat speed to run interference correctly?

Handfuls of Acorns(and similar items like Skull Talismans and Bottles of Living Water) will increase the killing power(and survivability) of your assassins. Do keep in mind however that these things cost gems. Nature gems in particular I would be very stingy with on this nation, but if you need to kill something acorns very well may help(but sometimes make little difference against mages, priests, and thugs). Also if you want to ensure that the vine men get to the target before your assassin you can just script your assassin to hold for a turn.

It's the earth smite. You need Earth magic to be both at least four and the highest path on your pretender to get it.

I like larger on Yomi. Size 5 makes head hits less likely and size 3 thug chassis for your Oni Shuugo or whatever the oni commander is.

if you get all 4 elemental or all 4 sorcery paths you get 3 bless(or more if you have more in one path) points in those 4, kzbin.info/www/bejne/pH6opqdsoJmGf5I Here you can see that he has 3 4 3 4 in fire air water and earth, as he has at least 3 in all of them, even the paths with 3 points in them (fire and air) get to put points towards the bless.

What happens to the Thistle Maces from casters who transform into something without arms? If those go missing the transformation strategy gets a lot more expensive for any that aren't N2.

I feel I'm doing something wrong with the assassins for expansion, they keep getting completely slaughtered by mounted commanders without getting to even act...

Mounted commanders are a little tougher than regular ones. Mounted units in general have a higher defence skill simply due to having that mount. So you might want to be careful around provinces with heavy cav as they sometimes have a mounted commander.

everyone theorizing about all these cool plays you can do as vaetti but the reality is a very different one. Played 2 vaetti games, site searched everything, and always had bad luck, I had D income of 2 and 3. Couldnt do shit. my N was also way too low to do all these good transform play en masse. theory =/= reality

No love for inspiration from a fire bless? low moral units + no P2s for courage and crappy leaders seems to cry for inspiration. going 4 N+B+D for mage and sacred hit points is helpful too. Ass'ns asre great for underwater expansion. No need to fight the armies.
