I do prefer the Javelin warriors to the sling warriors for expanding with Eagles because the slingers will hit your Eagles in the head. Javelins set to hold and fire closest are much less likely to increase casualties on your Eagle Warriors.

That is a fair point. Ironicly, the slings counter our own troops more than the enemy, lol.

Being on the weaker end makes victory all the sweeter! And could be a good nation to really get into native recruitment to make up for the weaker national troops.

Only problem is our scales will be so bad that even if we get something like knights, its going to be rough recruiting them in any numbers. My hope is for good gem income!

I only ever play Mictlan with imprisoned rainbows. I also only really play EA Mictlan so I'm not sure how it will translate, but I would go full rainbow and take Enchanted Blood+Undying 5 for a base level of survivability (extra strong on Jaguar Warriors), then focus on making your sacreds more killy with Blood Surge and maybe Solar Weapons. I also find that Swiftness is decent, and I notice the first strike, but I'd probably trade it for Storm Flight in this Era for the reasons you mentioned; Heroism 2 is way more efficient than taking +1 attack, defense, or precision because your sacreds will level up after their first battle (pairs especially well with Unbreakable); Inspirational Presence makes all your leadership 10 priests able to lead 60 units; Undead Leadership 1 is needed if you want to go blood and use Ozelotls (and you do, but probably won't be able to until pretty late in the game); I always regret not taking Spirit Sight or at least Low Light Vision; and if you go high heat, swimming can be a fun sneaky pick on the right map. Also, juiced-up Jaguar Warriors will be better than juiced-up Eagle Warriors in some expansion situations, especially when enemies have way more armor than the eagles can punch through. You might not need to go turmoil to get a good enough bless for your sacreds, so I would try taking order 1 so I have enough recruitment points for jaguars in my capital, because they're just so powerful. I built a Demilich with F4 A4 W2 E4 S3 D6 N2 G3 B4; Inspirational Presence, Unbreakable, Solar Weapons, 5 x Undying, Enchanted Blood, Blood Surge, 2 x Heroism; Dominion 8, Order 1, Sloth 2, Heat 3, Growth 1, Luck 0, Magic 1. Haven't tested it yet but seems promising, and you could swap to Turmoil 1 Luck 2 easily enough if that's your thing, but I don't think you'll really get much more out of more bless points from here.

Just tested the pretender I outlined and it worked marvelously. Eagles and Javelins for expansion with some Jaguar Warriors splashed in, slam forts down as soon as possible, only recruit your cap-only priests in the capital (the Moon, Rain, and Sun Priests are all efficient researchers, and half the upkeep of Nahuali's) and swap your capital to only recruiting Jaguar Warriors once you have a fort or two to recruit Eagles from.

Great to hear about tested builds! I like the idea of an imprisoned here since we have easy H3s and *NEED* a hell bless to compete.

@@BabelBuilder the biggest difference I noticed from EA was the price of the cap only priests. They are so much more affordable to the point of being research efficient and much more useful than your non-cap priests, and the savings is well worth losing the 2 Blood.

This is a nation that got screwed over by losing Blood. Like REALLY screwed over by losing Blood. The fact that its apparently the Eagle Warriors that led this charge is hilarious to me as they benefitted from Blood blesses the most.

Storm Flight seems like a tax that you really want to pay, in the long run. That and Stygian Flesh or Ethereal came to mind right away. I'd think those two and a weapon bless is a really good choice. Also, how hard was it for you to not pronounce (most of the time) the invisible D in Mictland?

The non capital cheap flying sacreds are what keep them in the game, not push them ahead. Even in EA eagles struggled a bit with protection, and things have only got worse in MA. No unplayable by any means though!

How about Fire: Teol of the sky dormant non SC with Flaming weapons/Righteous Wrath/FR/Barkskin (the other fire chassis titan is better with blood but expensive). Or dormant Demon Macaw with Etheral, Flaming weapons, morale. Weird ones only possible because of bonus bless points. Maybe dormant means temporary use of alternate sacred. Thank you for analysis pointing to armour piercing weapon attacks due to changes to strength blesses although one of your very interesting suggestions does not rectify protection on sacreds although quickness + 2 def - and alternate imprisoned builds would be too low dominion and lacking remedy for protection as well. I left nation as too difficult come back later so no expert.

This is definingly a challenging nation. I think a ton depends on your match ups. If you knew who else is going to be in the game, you could tailor your bless more.

I like Ma Mitclan as a hellfire nation too with fire shield, rightous wrath, flame explotions and plan to go deep into blood for real troops asap

@@BabelBuilder Yep I got my comeuppance straight away with good dormant blesses leaving early so difficult. BUT Serpent excellent with blood awake Dom 7 hard skin 3 strength, undying. I had no problems expanding (although found merrow druids) on that then switch to get the blood 5/6 commanders. Note Wyrm/nature for early rust mist good but not the same potential.

What is the community's issue with air shield? This another nation with a lot of scareds where the sacred troops are going to be facetanking xbows. Mictlan needs airshield. Without airshield you can never use slings as you will kill your own dudes in their dinky leather cap more often than the enemy. Stygian skin is really never enough and doesnt stack with other armors you can easily cast. You also want luck. Even though your jags are cap only they are still your best troop. Luck doubletaps with shapechagers. I like the Oracle with Luck and Airshield. Or the Lawgiver with air shield, twist fate, solar weapons(or Rightous Wrath), low light vision and a bunch of Resilient (or enchanted blood). Practice using your flyers in walking lines as you arnt caelum and sending just your eagles into the enemy back line will get them killed. Flying scareds also can mean death explotion fun if you got the huevos to go with it.

@@BabelBuilder odd way of thinking about it since bless points are general now. Stygian skin is 5 points but 6 is too expensive? Stygian skin is only blocks 10 dmg while air shield has a 80% chance to stop infinite damage. Air shield doesnt care about xbow armor piercing or magic enchanted arrows and doesnt interfere with bark-skin. I think I'd go so far as saying if a person doesnt use airshield on Ma Mitclan they are purposely choosing sub optimal or dont understand the nation. Your warriors arnt warriors they are flaming archers. Mictlan is not Caelum to show up with 700 troops in the enemy back line. Eagles job is to interrupt spellcasting/archer fire while you rain fire from above and hopefully not kill your own sacred. Cant use the slings without massive attrition without air shield.

Wait to bless until turn 3 or 4 so the squishy flyers don't die immediately. Suggest pretender för stupid bless. Arch mage, paths 5 4 5 5 4 4 4 2 4 5 attack bless, 5 strength bless in earth and blood . Final point heroism. 7 dom. -2, -2, +3, 0, 0, +1 Or however. Doesn't matter
