This is the first time I see this movie and I laughed like mad. It has many hilarious moments, my fav are when the man thought that the old Lady makes the leopar´s "roar"..the part when David brokes Kate´s dress, the final scene.....Sorry my english, but I just love it!!!!

This is one of my favorite movies. Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant are marvelous when pitted against each other in romance and wit. It's hard to believe she didn't know how to do comedy before this movie, but that's a story the director tells. They were reunited in "The Philadelphia Story," which is slightly less screwball and has more emotional development. Some similar elements include the class differences. This apparently was a common formula in post-Depression movies. It has a similar topic - will they both come to believe that marriage, or in this case, remarriage, is what will make them happy. Then, like an ice cream sundae, it's topped off by a young Jimmy Stewart performance as a sort of wingman/bystander. Same witty repartee but a bit more smoldering.

I love me some Cary Grant!! I love bringing up baby!!! I can watch this movie over and over!! Never get tired of watching this film! I also have it on dvd I need a new one. This film is sooooo funny! Cary is brilliant as well Katherine Hepburn. He’s so handsome !!!! Or Susan, Susan.... after: how can all these things happen to just one person...:) he's So Good!!! and timeless, the way he says things even sounds like someone nowadays...he didn't just have a good transatlantic accent he had a cross decades accent... a lot of other actors from that era can sound vastly different than we do now- but he's just so down to earth maybe. Katherine's voice transcends the ages too!!

Plus she had the voice, talent, taste and soul behind it all to match. You can't be that beautiful without something else radiating outward too I feel! As for actors, I think Louis Jourdan is in that category. I love that he also married and stayed with his childhood sweetheart all through his career! Very sweet :) Cary Grant too :) and who is as funny as him? here, "Charade" with Audrey Hepburn oddly though they were not related..

Ill always maintain Marilyn's reputation is at least somewhat overblown due to her incredibly tragic and early passing. Both women were incredibly talented and beautiful but no one can convince me Katherine Hepburn can be beat in either category. The African queen and Philadelphia story are 2 examples that are near impossible to top for Marilyn.

Just superb comic timing and some very witty lines and hilarious scenes. CARY is just as good in "Arsenic And Old Lace". By the way I notice someone below says he stars in that one with Boris Karloff, but BK only appeared in the stage production, Grant`s creepy brother in that movie is played by Raymond Massey.

It makes me wonder if they'd seen it on stage as well and I'd isunderstood what the grown ups were saying. Time to rewatch A&OL . Sorry guys but everyone saying Grant meant to say gay-as-in-merry or happy is wrong. In the 17th century, the word gay had also come to mean rakish or sexually immoral. When Grant jumps to declare himself gay, he doesn’t mean to say happy. In that context, and in that costume, he most certainly meant gay-as-in-homosexual, if not, gay-as-in-rakish. The usage of the term gay (as-in-homosexual) started in prisons and the underworld in the early 20th century. Old hollywood had mob connections so there’s a very high probability Grant meant to say gay-as-in-homosexual. Many of the scenes with Baby, Hepburn and Grant were all shot seperately. An editor later spliced all the footage together so it would look like all three parties were on the screen simultaneously.
