The B flat chord is borrowed from the C mixolydian mode! It works the same as if you went to the D chord (from lydian mode). Modal interchange is a great way to spice things up without getting away too far from the key and getting lost because you're still in C technically, just different modes.

It depends on what mode tho and how you resolve It

I don’t know if it’s a modal interchange because when he played that Bb it really was like he just changed keys and played Eb and other chord changes ! So I think that when you play the Bb for some mesures you can play in that key before coming back to C, we will just say that he played Bb, in the « realm » of Bb even tho it’s multiple chords 🤷🏾♂️

Keep up the great work man! You and Joe Pryor got that unique sound that im looking for and I really needed this being that my strongest key is C and I take what I learn there and apply it to my other keys, this was a great starting point to change up my style.

Man this is amazing playing, I wish I understood anything you were trying to say. I get you can go to the Bb, I just still don’t understand why, and what chords do you use the Bb instead of?

Nice video! I like you just exploring. Very Helpful! If I was to try to examine this in simple terms you are playing in the Key of C but shifting between the Major 7 and the Minor 7 which would be B and Bb When you add the Eb looks like you also add the F# which would be the 3 & 5 of B major. I'm sure thats some mixed mode that I dont know how to name LOL Thanks for the video!
