Those DOMS watercolor cakes are *opaque* watercolors. It's too bad that the manufacturer does not clarify this on the packaging, because that would probably prevent many people from ending up disappointed. When they are used as transparent watercolors they do not perform very well: they are not pigmented enough for a transparent watercolor, they do not layer too well, they're much too opaque and they contain a noticeably large amount of fillers. But when you are looking for opaque watercolors, then these are great paints, en par with other opaque paints like Pelikan and Lamy. They remind me of the kind of paints that I would use as a child, and nowadays I like using them for mixed media, quick sketches and illustrations. Nice, inexpensive paints that you can have a lot of fun with, but if you are looking for traditional transparent watercolors I strongly recommend that you buy something different.

Mam i have tried water colour tubes and created many pics with them i tried both camel nd domes now i want try cakes which do u prefer camel or doms i am talking about student grade i dont want to go for artist grade now so plz give me a suggestion i am 8th grader 😊

They are both good. Go for the box which has colors that appeals to you the most. Doms has more choices.

Congratulations on starting your artistic journey 👍🏻The camel artist cake has best pigment quality but if you are just starting off, you may use any brand that appeals to you. It’s more important to enjoy the process. 😊

Art and craft with Anshika ✓ if this is the first set of watercolour that you are buying, try the camel brand first. They are low cost and good quality. Once you become comfortable, you can try Brustro and other brands.
