You left out the most important STEP: How to save it. I edited the range on one of the performances to suit me, but there is no save button on that screen, and the physical save button takes me to some weird place with no indication of what to do. So I press the performance button, navigate back to the performance I edited to find nothing has changed.

Happy new year dude :) Could you do a video with suggestions on ways to play backing tracks with or through the MODX? Either via the A/D input or USB or... maybe there's a third way I haven't thought of?
@DomSigalas5 жыл бұрын
If you connect your phone or iPad through USB you can play backing tracks easily and have control over the volume with the USB knob :) or you can use a USB flash drive and play backing tracks. They need to be 44.1/24bit files though ;)

Hello Mr.Sigalas, I recently bought a MODX7+. I've played keys all of my life, but I am completely new to this technology. I'm so glad I came across your site. You know this instument so well, are so easy to understand & kind. #1) Do you have a instuctional video course available? If so, how do you sign up & how much does it cost? If not, do you have a instruct video on how to create a program/performance file for Africa (Toto) & Sledgehammer (P. Gabriel).Thanks very much. ☮

Thank you Dom I have a question regarding programming Note Limit and assigning changes to the Assign Switches or even Scenes. As an example, I would like to start of with full Piano, and when I hit the Assign Switch 1 (or Scene 2), have the keyboard split into Piano and Bass section. Is that possible? In all my searching online, I don't seem to find the answer! Thank you

Happy New Year Dom ! Fairly basic stuff here . Could you do more in depth videos on assigning the Super Knob. Specifically morphing thru multiple Parts in a Performance and doing Filter Sweeps with Foot Controller/SuperKnob. Thanks!!
@DomSigalas5 жыл бұрын
Indeed, this is Montage 101 but there were so many people asking for those things! Have you checked my video on how to program the Superknob? This might give you some answers :)
@PLAZALOT585 жыл бұрын
Dom Sigalas thanks for responding . I found your video on programming Super Knob with one click. Very helpful ! It is so much easier and quicker having someone SHOW how it works than reading about it in an instruction manual. Your videos are very clear and easy to understand. Keep up the good work my friend !

How do you save the split as a new sound?
@miditime Жыл бұрын
I think the concept was much simpler 40 years ago with the OB-8 where you just had an upper and a lower button and could set the part accordingly. You could basically do splits on the fly without reading glasses and tiny fingers. Why are these buttons not on the keyboard. those 2 and a transpose button - entering the interval by playing the note. Try this exercise with a Montage - You're on a job and the singer wants to sing that complex chart up a minor 3rd. The audience is quietly waiting - Okay, Go! . . . . Is it really better to have a Motion SEQ Trigger button? Quick - what is a MS On/Off button? Who thinks of these designs? And my favorite flaw is no labeling of the inputs on top of the keyboard, so you'll need a flashlight and have to lift your keyboard up to see what you're actually plugging things into. The main problem for me is, it's really the best sounding keyboard by far out there (for AC & E. Pianos) so I have little choice. Next gen Montage hopefully will include basic button needs as well as endless complexities under the hood. I hope.

Dom, thanks for an easy to follow tutorial. Question: having defined a split and assigned the instrument, are you then able to transpose the instrument within the split? For example, I want to put a lead sound in the upper octave of the keyboard, but I want it to sound in the mid-range. Do-able?

I have MODX. To bring out rich sounding strings like arco or legato do we have to layer them or the preset is good enough? Strings sound good on headphones but awful on stage. I’m not sure as a player, I’ll hear the same output as audience do but I have a feeling that strings aren’t rich or sounds dull relatively on stage with other band instruments. What’s the secret sauce?

How do you name the split? How do you store it? Where is it stored to? How do you recall it? How do you change the octave? Does this change the original patch? How do you restore that? This is complicated to me.
