Dom, I've been a Cubase user for a nearly 15-20 years. The boost and inspiration your channel and videos has given me as a producer is huge. I use your channel in my everyday producing and come often back for new and old techniques to apply to my songs, thanks and keep up the good work! 🙏

Ahh hay Dom, you seem to be doing a few more regular Cubase tings, all very good, I really enjoyed the FabFilters review/tutorial, what a great piece of software that is, recently added to my arsenal, I’ve been dabbling with Cubase since Win98 I even tried to get it to work on a win2000 once, ridiculous I know, NT, but such was the thirst to get it to work, obviously back in the day and now after several years of operating the hacked versions I finally bought 10.5 then went to 11 and after a lightning, USB2 ,dongle frying episode I went for that groovy update offer to Cubase 12, WOW Thank you for drawing our attention to the offer still running …very cool ….the lightning also took out the UiR24 which I’m still waiting 3months later for DV24/7 (never again) to replace or repair!!! Hey love your videos and advice and perspective ….rock on dude Peace…

Hi Dom, I like your videos, especially older ones, about guitar and piano plugins and keyboard drumming. Can you please make a video about playing congas on keyboard. Are there any good plugins. I know almost every DAW and general MIDI has congas, but those sounds are very limited. There are multiple tones you can play on real congas, such as open tone, muffled tone, closed slap, open slap, mini slap, bass tone, etc. Also there are conga, tumba, super tumba (there are multiple names for similar drums) which can be tuned differently. I don't think most drum kits let you tune conga to G or G# and tumba to C or C#, for example. Thanks.

Should I use parallel compression on "plug-in" instruments (or do they already do most all of the basics to the sounds when they're creating them)? Or should I only use it mostly on "live" instruments? Not sure I'm using all the correct terminology here, hope my question is clear enough though>

Hi Dom, when I create an FX channel track for parallel compression and I send the signal I want to compress to it,does it have the channel effects (e.g. EQ, compression etc) from the original channel or is the signal dry? So let’s say I have a vocal track. I add EQ and compression to that vocal track and send that vocal track to an FX channel for parallel compression, is the EQ and compression applied to the initial vocal track still on the parallel signal sent to the FX track or is it dry as if it was recorded straight into the audio track with no effects?! Hope this makes sense. This is for Cubase pro 12 specifically. Thanks in advance.

Am I the only person that has seen so many of these videos they now talk themselves through Cubase logistics in Dom's voice? I do....
@s.schmidt5923 Жыл бұрын
Buuut ... if you create a send and then mix this additional effect channel in, don't you also add loudness with every bit you add, so you will always have a louder signal than before in the end? This makes it difficult to evaluate if the new drumtrack really does sounds better, (or just louder)?
@Al69BfR2 жыл бұрын
I don‘t know if I‘m overthinking this, but I set up my mixes with a group for each instrument where i sum up the instrument signals and all specific parallel or send effects before I send them to the next group where I then add the returns from i.e. NY Compression or Rear Bus Compression. So in the end I have a tree where only two groups (one for instruments and one for voice) are sending their signal to my mix bus or stereo out. Or should I go more easy on groups and send my effects directly to the main/mix bus?

I've been using paralel compression to bring up to the front weak parts like everything around it was hiding it , things that started wrong in the main balance
@annother33502 жыл бұрын
Which plugin or setting would you guys use if you wanted to add a bit of room ambience pre-parallel comp because on real drums the magic, to me, is in the super-compression of the room ambience

I watched the other video on vocals (kzbin.info/www/bejne/mqewqJ99ftmNha8) and both times I can't see where this audio copy is being added to the sends. What am I missing?
