A gusty day at Don Heads before a storm front came in.
Don Heads is located in NW Tasmania, a few kilometers west of Devonport. The unsigned track over the heads starts at the end of Don Heads road (not to be confused with the Elm Forest walk which is right next to it). Taking around 30 minutes each way, you will be rewarded with great views of the area.
It's a dirt track so it can get quite slippery in the wet - walking boots are recommended - and there are some steep drop offs along the way to Bass Strait below with no safety rails so some caution is needed if you're taking small children.
It's best to go in clear weather to take advantage of the views and at low tide as there are some interesting geological formations along the shore. The day we went in this video we had a small window of opportunity with the weather and it was high tide so a return trip is on the cards.
