The dumbest thing Tyson ever did was ditch the team that got him started. King needed Tyson more than Tyson needed King. Sugar Ray Leonard was smart enough to steer clear of King and always kept his manager. He never signed a long term contract with King. I realize King controlled the Heavyweight divsion which made it tough for Tyson to fight him off. But he should have at least retained independent management

@@bayokoebi9351 Mayweather is not the smartest. He was coming up to the top of the boxing world during the Golden Age of professional wrestling. He just needed someone to piss in his ear and tell him that boxing needed a heel. Not discrediting Floyd's skills, but there were a couple of questionable decisions in a few fights after he became "Money" Mayweather. Plus, he could be seen as having avoided the ability to become undisputed in any weight division he fought in. Modern boxing fans call it a duck, I call it a manufactured record for money. It's a sad symptom of modern boxing. Corruption is corruption, whatever words you use.

Don King robbed so many, but its nothing new, lots of promotors have done the same. Today the UFC pays its fighters too little, its said 15% of the profits when they're the show! Other sports pay larger percentages to the athletes. Dana White is just another version of Don King.

And corruption is corruption as greed is to greed. Things are dismissed until you’re on the receiving end. Aside from stealing money king has done and laughs off this man was able to help Ali get a medical pass to fight in the “Rumble in the Jungle” . Ali really should’ve stopped long before King ripping off his own people and shrugging it off because he bread crumbed them because at least they aren’t poor anymore! It don had been another race I guarantee protest would have happened a long time ago.

BS. He protected JC Chavez after Randall beat him. in the rematch, Randall lost a point for an accidental head butt, then Chavez quit. It went to the cards and Chavez got a bogus technical decision. Randall didn't get a third fight and instead King steered him to the WBA title where he beat Coggi. King had the WBC in his pocket. This happened while Tyson was in prison and Chavez became his main meal ticket.

Say what u want about King but when he controlled boxing, we got GREAT fights. He forced the fighters to fight or he would sue the shit out of them and ruin their careers. So nobody crossed him. Bad for the fighters obviously but very good for the fans and in turn was good for boxing. Loom at the UFC. Dana White is a moden day Don King. Uses the same exact business tactics as King did. Theres nowhere else for MMA fighters to go if they want the most money and most people watching them. Why u get the best fights constantly. Todays era of boxing the best guys dont need to fight eachother, the loser only loses money in the long run because of the Mayweather mentality that u have to undefeated to be relevant. Theres notning forcing them to fight eachother so why do it? They dont.

Just found your channel. Don King got my attention. Enjoyed the info and content (up to a point.) Well put together though - *except the Repeated-Flashing-Annoying-Disturbing-More Flashing-images-gimmick happening way too often (that's ALL too common now in videos overall) That's manipulative and unnecessary and unacceptable. I had enough of that and Stopped watching. I don't believe I am alone in that. Regardless, I subscribed anyway - in the Hope that your future content does not contain that same technique. Your very talented. Please reconsider.

Yes, Don King was ruthless, manipulative and exploitative. But guess what? This is how you describe many wealthy entrepreneurs and businessman, let alone fight promoters. King wasn't any different than any other fight promoter in the history of prizefighting, but I think it's unfair how so many seem to single him out as the devil. The first rule of business is to keep personal feelings out when conducting business affairs, and he.like many successful businessmen, happened to be good at doing that.

Agreed, but one crime doesn't make another reciprocal crime okay. Don King was a true villain in the world of sports. This much is known. His legacy as a Hall of Famer is a joke he perpetrated on America, and got away with. His true nature is now being discovered.

Every boxing promoter could have a film done on their greed & unscrupulous behaviour towards fighters we are the ones that get the short end of the stick and they hold all the cards they could make it difficult for a fighter to getta shot at a title or even get major exposure on fight shows so fighters feel like they have no choice to sign even if they know the promoters a crook 🤷🏾‍♂️ got to be said tho noone i mean no promoter is better than DK at putting on fight shows! These promoters now usually sell one main event fight an make no effort to make the rest of the bill exciting with DK his whole show match ups was exciting! hes still a slimy reptilian MF#%@ tho 😂
