Conan interviews Don King on January 3rd, 1997. Apparently, Andrew Golota is addicted to the testicles. Only in America!

In the U.S., yes, you're right - and also for quitting against Mike Tyson. However, in his homeland, Golota's claim to fame is being the first Polish heavyweight to challenge for a world title. He carried the hopes of an entire nation on his shoulders when he fought Lewis for the WBC title in '97 -- and the pressure of that partially may explain his loss 95 sec. into round 1. The injection of lidocaine very shortly before the bout is the other culprit, IMO.

I always thought a prime '90s version of Golota would have given Lewis a great war had he showed up with the same confidence he did against Bowe. It's really too bad he could not handle the pressure and took the lidocaine shot. Golota could have dominated for years had he just been able to handle pressure.
@IblewuponyourfaceIII4 жыл бұрын
It wasn’t necessarily the pressure, Golota was drugged in that fight with Lewis. Proven by Medical records. Golota won the lawsuit for $1 Million. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lennox_Lewis_vs._Andrew_Golota

Golota already feels the effetcts of pressure before a fight, and then inject him with a shot that may cause dizziness - that's like adding fuel to a fire.

Don King plays a double-role. He acts like a phony jack ass so you can clown him but it's all an act to defer ant attention to his cunning business dealings. He really is the most successful promoter of all times.

So from what you heard Golota took the lidocaine shot because of feeling mental pressure leading up to the fight? I thought he took the shot solely for his achy knee. Which is it? Yeah, he would have dominated if it wasn't for the mental instability, and I think even the 2004 (past prime) version of Golota from the Byrd and Ruiz bouts could have beaten both Vitali and Wladimir at the time.

this is the last fight that Don promoted Mike..
@jdoro6311 жыл бұрын
I meant only in that year 2004 specifically, when he seemed to have that comeback firepower, but it still would have been tough, although Wlad was has a weak chin. On another note, how do you think Golota would have fared against Tua and Ibeabuchi had he fought those men? It would have been so interesting to see him fight both of those guys in the 90s. Both Golota-Tua and Golota- Ibeabuchi would have been a hell of a fight!

No, his claim to fame is beating the crap out of Bowe then getting DQed for low blows twice. That and the riot and MSG.

I didn't think her appearance was that great - she mostly read points off a piece of paper and didn't interact with Conan much (it was part of her bit, but I didn't find it that funny). As a result, their chemistry was lacking. If you really want to see it, I can upload it.

No I believe he took the shot due to a knee injury but I dont know how much the shot contributed to his bad performance. Was it more the lidocaine shot or the pressure or a combination of both that made him start so slow against Lewis? I say probably both. You think the 2004 version of Golota would have beaten both Klitschkos?? I strongly disagree. Look what Wlad did to Byrd in both fights, Golota only scored a draw. I think Golota could have KOed Wlad in the 90s but could never beat Vitali
